Chapter 630 Wicked Warlock of the East (Appearance)
Article contents
“ Ah, Sunless… fate is the funniest thing in the world, don't you think? You and I… I have a feeling that we are going to be great friends, Sunless. Believe it! ” ― Noctis to Sunny,
Chapter 631 The Funniest Thing in the World
Noctis' name was used to call the Sanctuary of Noctis in his honor.[9] He is one of the Transcendent immortals.[10]
Appearance
In the center of the valley, a small fire burned, its color entirely white. In front of it, a lone human figure sat. The human's head was hung low, his face obscured by the falling hair. He was naked above the waist, his pale skin covered with dry blood. However, there seemed to be no wounds on the stranger's body… in fact, there was not a single scar on it.
On a stone in front of him, a diamond sickle lay, its blade painted crimson. — Sunny's Introduction of Noctis, Chapter 630 Wicked Warlock of the East |
He was young and beautiful, with smooth silken skin, high cheekbones, and exquisite features. The man's smile was carefree and pleasant, his eyes bright and humorous. There was a symbol of a crescent moon drawn on his forehead.[11][3] He was a friendly young man with a charming smile.[4]
Noctis looked like a pampered young man in bright silks, with an effeminate face and the body of someone who had never once exerted themselves physically. His hands were smooth and uncalloused, and his build was slender and soft, almost frail.[4]
With the otherworldly presence that all Transcendents possess, it was easy to tell there was vast and dreadful power within Noctis, hiding behind the deceptively carefree gleam of his lustrous eyes.[4]
He was dressed in extravagantly colorful silk garments. His raven-black hair was immaculate and lustrous, and his beautiful grey eyes sparkled with jovial light.[12]
Personality
“ Come, come. It is rude to refuse a sincere invitation… especially one coming from such a nice person as me. Oh… where are my manners? I didn't even introduce myself! Rejoice, stranger… you are in the brilliant presence of Noctis, the great Sorcerer of the East… ” ― Noctis to Sunny,
Chapter 630 Wicked Warlock of the East
He was a self-proclaimed nice person and the friendliest man in all of the Kingdom of Hope.[3][13] He is also carefree and pleasantly likable.[12] No matter how weak and affable he seemed, he was an immortal Transcended, a Chain Lord of the Kingdom of Hope, and someone whose mere presence was enough to scare a terrifying Corrupted Monster away.[3] [12] He admitted that he is the maddest person in all of the Kingdom of Hope.[7]
| “ | ..Noctis, he was a devious, wicked, two-faced lunatic. But he was also… great. In more than one sense... | ” |
― Effie about Noctis, | ||
According to Sunny, he is dishonest, lying, conniving, crazy, and a dastardly cheat.[14]
Aspect, Abilities & Flaw
His Aspect has to do with souls; he inherited a few things and a lot of knowledge from Aidre. He can remove, destroy or keep the memory of someone to himself.[15]
When he used his power, his smile disappears from his face making it something cold and frightening. His grey eyes shone with distant moonlight that contained madness. He appeared to be taller than he had been and his previously contained presence spread over the world like a flood. Making everyone around him like prey being stalked by a hungry predator.[16]
He created the Sailor Dolls and might have actually used someone's soul to enchant his mop.[17]
Transformation Ability
He can turn into a torrent of pure light emanating the presence of true divinity and shape himself into a colossal, ghostly wolf. On his forehead, a shape of a crescent moon shined radiantly. The wolf's body was weaved of moonlight.[18]
Flaw
His flaw is he was strongest under the moonlight but grow weak in the sunlight.[19]
Sorcery
With a slight move of his hand, he can immediately wash the dry blood away from his body and get dressed.[4] Noctis only became a true sorcerer after learning Hope's magic.[20]
Creations
Clone
The Sailor Doll was about the same height as Noctis, dressed in his best silks, and wearing a gorgeous black wig. It stared senselessly in front of itself and held a glass of wine.— Chapter 712 Leaving the Sanctuary
After Noctis added the final touch, the Sailor Doll became uncannily like him. There was suffocating presence radiating from the mannequin similar to Noctis when he unleashed his power. Looking beneath the surface of the Sailor Doll, something that looked exactly like a Transcendent soul core was burning in its chest.[22]
Gargoyles
Noctis created fourteen giant gargoyles that looked frightening, unsightly, ferocious and each had mighty stone wings. The harrowing creatures were giant and heavy, with talons, claws, fangs, spikes, and horns. They move using the vile souls that he have collected across the centuries.[22]
Background
“ I used to have a home too, you know? A long time ago. There was a beautiful temple where my siblings and I grew up, being taught by priests and priestesses. It was surrounded by a vast forest where we played and hunted. There was a lake where we caught fish and swam to escape the summer's heat, without a care in the world...I returned to that place some time ago. Ah, but it was not... it changed. The temple lay in ruins, the forest had been chopped down. The lake had dried up. Everything felt unfamiliar and strange, like a distant dream. And for a moment, I felt as if my whole life was just a dream that I have dreamt... and maybe was dreaming still. But hey, by then, I already had this. This sanctuary that I have built with my own two hands, the people that I saved, the land that I tried to protect, the duty I made mine to uphold… this was my home. What I am trying to say, Sunless, is that you don't need to belong somewhere, or to something. You just need to make something belong to you. That is how you can find home… ” ― Reminiscing his home with Sunny,
Chapter 712 Leaving the Sanctuary
Noctis was one of the seven immortals shackles of the imprisoned daemon, the mysterious Lord of the East.[4] His great-grandmother is the Goddess of the Moon.[17] Noctis is of the blood of the Moon, Beast God, the God of Hunters.[19]
According to Kai, he is feared and revered in equal measure throughout the Kingdom of Hope, and his name is synonymous with mystery and power as well as debauchery, mischief, and disaster. He is rumored to possess a merciful heart, but he is still dangerous and terrifying.[10]
When Noctis was young, at the dawn of the Age of Heroes, things like dying were rather common. That is what happens when human champions grow unfit for their duty. The champions of the kingdom of Hope, have been unfit for quite a while now if the Lords can even be called champions.[13]
Deal with a Demon
Note: In one of the fragmented memories of Cassie, she who wore the visage of Weaver in the memory, witness the deal between Noctis and Weaver in Chapter 2730.
The deal between Weaver, the Demon of Fate, and Noctis was formed when Noctis asked for Weaver's help in slaughtering the Chain Lords, breaking the shackles forged by the Sun God, unleashing Hope upon the world, defying the will of the gods, and ultimately helping him die, offering his heart and any price in return. Weaver agreed to help him break the chains of Hope and defy the gods, but rejected death as payment, declaring that death would not absolve a debt owed to the Demon of Fate. Instead, Weaver demanded his life rather than his death, cursing him to live, to hope, and to serve Weaver, along with "the one in the north". To seal the bargain, Weaver seized a String of Fate from the great tapestry, altered it by force of Weaver's Will, and embedded it into Noctis, piercing his chest and binding him to a new fate as a new heart beat within him. By doing so, she made the will of the Sun God irrelevant, declared that only Weaver's will now mattered, stripped Noctis of his belonging to the gods, and claimed him as Weaver's own, commanding that he call only the name of Weaver.[23]
History
Noctis’s Fate
Note: This fate was glimpsed by Shadow in the Fifth Nightmare
Noctis' fate was revealed through the thread of his fate, which Shadow briefly examined. In the life he saw, Noctis was a young, brash Transcendent champion who wanted to reshape the world into a more beautiful form. Although he hid his keen perception and compassion behind a mask of carefree shallowness, witnessing the suffering, fear, and bitter plight of the weak deeply affected him. Despite the darkness of the world, he continued to believe in brighter things and held on to hope. One day, a shining god asked him to become “a chain that bound hope,” and he agreed. What followed was madness that lasted far longer than any mortal was supposed to live. As he carried out his maddening duty, human lives in distant realms improved, ushering in a golden age in which Corruption no longer tormented humans.[24]
Afraid of what would happen if he broke the chains of hope, Noctis eventually decided to act and made a deal with a daemon. His original fate was discarded and replaced by another, stolen fate that could allow him to die but also demanded that he live a little bit longer. He became the High Priest of the Nightmare Spell, a heretic pursued by everyone who worshipped the great gods. Through talent and tenacity, he spread the Nightmare Spell across existence, eventually becoming Supreme just before the Doom War began. As the war consumed countless lives and spread destruction across every realm, spreading the faith in the Nightmare Spell became easier. Eventually, the world itself came to an end, and myriad people, the gods, and even the daemons perished. Despite losing his immortality, his spirit sustaining dreadful wounds, his Domain being annihilated, and his followers scattering or perishing, Noctis remained alive.[24]
With little left to do, Noctis set out on one last journey to bring the Nightmare Spell to the few people who had yet to perish on the ruins of the destroyed world. He eventually reached a land consumed by eternal darkness, where he helped humans fight the terrifying creatures dwelling there and offered those willing the chance to become carriers of the Nightmare Spell. However, the very people he had tried to save eventually betrayed him. Taking advantage of his weakened state, they imprisoned him in a small cell beneath a magnificent cathedral, bound him with powerful sorcery, and shut the door because they did not trust him as a heretic. While imprisoned, Noctis felt seeds of Corruption blooming in his soul and realized that he would eventually succumb to it. Refusing to let his soul become impenetrably dark, he traced his final farewell in the dust: "Hail Weaver, Demon of Fate, Fistborn of the Forgotten God!" He then remembered his life, the battles he had fought, the friends he had made and lost, and the pleasures and beauty he had experienced. Satisfied that his life had been everything he had hoped for, Noctis said farewell, shattered his spirit, and extinguished his soul.[24]
Trivia
- According to the rune description of Covetous Coffer, Noctis had several treasure chests in possession, including Mordant Mimic.[25]
- Noctis had been speculated as the captain of the ancient ship, the master of the Mimic, and the person whose face was depicted on the miraculous coins.[26][3][12] He was also probably the one who had created the coins, in the first place. That's why they could only be used in his Sanctuary.[26] This had been proved correct inside the second nightmare.[27]

- Noctis' grandmother was the Goddess of the Moon, also known as Beast God, who inhabited a Divine avatar. Although she was a terrifying and unfathomable deity, she was childish when visiting Noctis during his childhood at the temple, appearing only once every few years. Noctis remembered those rare visits fondly, and he would eventually outlive his grandmother.[35]
