“ This pet of mine is a very special creature… it is a vine that feeds on powerful souls. The profane seed that eventually birthed it was created when the ashes of the Heart Grove mixed with Aidre's blood. You remember Aidre, don't you Solvane? Well… allow me to return her last gift to you! ”
Wormvine was created by Noctis, a Corrupted Monster capable of devouring Saints, from the ashes of the Sacred Grove and Aidre's blood.[2]
Description
Thick strange reddish-brown vines that release sweet-smelling poison.[3][4] It sprawls to the entire Shipwreck Island and its vines buried underground.[1]
Its nest is in the main cargo of the shipwreck.[4][5] It usually slumbers until one of its vines is disturbed and is said to be weak to fire.[5]
There was a shape of a human twisted in a terrible convulsion at the very heart of the vast pulsating mass of moss. The vines sprawling through the entire island all came from within the flesh of that creature.[6]
Wormvine was susceptible to fire, as well as other means of dealing damage powerful enough to wound the abomination's flesh.[7][8]
History
The magical circle in the sorcerer's residence, the river of blood that Noctis had fed to the soil below, the cracks on the stone floor and the tremors that had been running through it from time to time. These things indicated that he had kept it in the ground beneath his residence for hundreds of years, nurturing the abomination by feeding it his essence and blood.[2]
When he departed from the Sanctuary for his assault, Noctis took it into himself, making his body both the bait and the trap for Solvane who had desecrated the Grove and killed its Lady. He starved the creature of soul essence due to this he was restrained by having to suppress the creature and prevent it from devouring him from the inside. When it finally found a new host, it was free to exert his full power.[2]
