Appearance

He was tall, powerful, and appeared to be in his forties. He was clothed in a black bodysuit with an unzipped parka over it. He had dark hair and calm, intelligent eyes. His stern and weary face bore a composed expression. Everything about him spoke of experience and discipline.^[4]

There was a man walking out of the ocean, water streaming from his armor. He was tall, with a powerful build. His hair was dark, and his bloodless face… was empty, not a hint of emotion hiding in his hollow eyes.

Instead, there was something different in them. Something vast, alien, and terrifying.

The man slowly emerged from the water and took a steady step toward Sunny, towering above him like a hollow wraith. The empty stare of his glassy eyes fell down.

Personality

Verne was an experienced government official. He was reserved, methodical, and did things by the book. He had received instructions from Army Command to reinforce LO49 and await the naval rescue, and he was determined to carry them out. It was not simple for him to defy an order. His thinking was not flexible enough.^[5]
