Article contents
Noctis Coin is the miraculous coin that was created by Noctis and can only be used on the altar at Sanctuary of Noctis.[1][2][3]
Description
There was a depiction of an archaic ship on one of its sides, with a tall mast that had an actual tree growing around it. A beautiful human face stared at him from the other side, a carefree smile on its lips.
The person had high cheekbones, long hair, and exquisite features. Sunny couldn't say if they were a man or a woman, just that they seem rather charming. There was a crescent moon drawn on their forehead, and… well, that was about it. — Sunny's description of the coin, Chapter 385 Iron Hand Island |
It was just a coin, a heavy golden coin. The only strange thing about the coin was it seemed a little bit warm to the touch.[4]
Usage
Background
According to Roan, a few of these coins have been found here and there on Chained Isles over the years. The coin seemed to be the preferred currency used by people who lived on Chained Isles thousands of years ago. No one had ever discovered a literal treasure trove of the coins except for Sunny.[8]
According to Noctis, making the coins takes time and each coin contains a piece of a Corrupted soul, or most of them. This is the reason they are so valuable, precious, and coveted by everyone in the Kingdom of Hope.[3]
Trivia
- Sunny first discovered the coin on Iron Hand Island.[4] It had fallen out of a dead creature's hand[4] called Chain Worm[9]. He also discovered a chest full of it on the Shipwreck Island inside the ship's treasury.[10]
- It was speculated that Noctis was the one who had created the coins. That's why they could only be used in his Sanctuary.[2]
- Sunny sacrificed all fourteen hundred or so coins to the altar.[11]
- Roan used to carry the coin with him a lot before, as a lucky charm.[8]
- According to Noctis, the coins are very precious but a very determined and reckless young man managed to collect all of them.[12]
