Irian, also known as the Blade of Dawn, is a powerful Transcendent hero who has defended the lands on one side of a river against the Creatures of Corruption. She is an old comrade of Arelen, the Altar Sage, with whom she has battled countless Creatures of Corruption side by side for centuries.[1]

Irian is known for her valor, wisdom, and virtue. However, following the death of the Horror of the Viridian Marsh, she becomes involved in a conflict with Arelen over the newly liberated lands near the river's estuary. After Arelen orders the destruction of her people's settlement and the slaughter of its inhabitants, Irian assembles an army to besiege his city and lay claim to his lands.[1]

Personality

Irian is known for her valor, wisdom, and virtue. Noctis expresses disbelief when he learns that she has assembled an army to attack Arelen, citing her reputation and their long history as comrades who fought against the Creatures of Corruption.[1]

She has defended humanity from Nightmare Creatures for centuries, serving as a protector of the people living on her side of the river.[1]

However, Irian's decision to establish a settlement in the newly liberated lands without first consulting Arelen leads to a dispute between the two former allies. Following Arelen's retaliation against her people, she assembles an army to exact her vengeance.[1]

Aspect, Abilities & Flaw

Irian is a Transcendent hero who has defended humanity against the Creatures of Corruption for centuries. She has battled countless Creatures of Corruption alongside Arelen. She protects the lands on her side of the river, helping ensure that Nightmare Creatures cannot threaten the livelihoods of humans in the realm. She assembles an army to besiege Arelen's city and lay claim to his lands.[1]

History

Irian has spent centuries fighting Creatures of Corruption alongside Arelen, the Altar Sage. Together, they defended their respective territories, with Arelen protecting one side of the river and Irian protecting the other.[1]

Their longstanding efforts helped maintain peace and protect human settlements from Nightmare Creatures. The two heroes lived in peace for centuries, and their partnership became well known throughout the realm.[1]

Death of the Horror of the Viridian Marsh

The Death of the Horror of the Viridian Marsh For generations, the Horror of the Viridian Marsh, a Corrupted Tyrant, haunted the borders of Arelen's and Irian's lands. Both Transcendents tried and failed to kill it over the course of centuries.[1]

All those months before the events of the passage, Noctis ventured into the marsh, fought a great battle, killed the Tyrant, and slaughtered its brood.[1]

With the Tyrant gone and its minions either slain or scattered, the surrounding lands were left without a master. These territories included miraculously fertile land near the estuary of the river and precious minerals hidden in the depths of the marsh.[1]

Conflict with Arelen

Following the Tyrant's death, both Irian and Arelen wanted to claim the newly liberated territory. Before consulting with Arelen and reaching an agreement, Irian sent settlers to establish a settlement in the land because her people needed food.[1]

Arelen responded by ordering his warriors to raze the settlement and slaughter Irian's people. Following this act, Irian assembled an army to besiege Arelen's city and lay claim to his lands.[1]

Arelen explains that Irian is coming to exact her vengeance. Their conflict has escalated into a war in which both rulers seek control of valuable territory and resources.[1]
