Belle · Shadow Slave · Wiki

Belle was a talented swordsman who excelled in offense and agility. Together with Dorn, they are the core of Sunny's cohort battle formation for the Antarctica campaign.^[2]

Appearance

A charismatic man with a lean figure, athletic build, and blond hair. His expression on the portrait attached to the dossier was laid-back and slightly carefree.^[2]

Personality

Aspect, Abilities & Flaw

His Aspect was able to turn his body intangible and phase through solid matter. Although he couldn't keep it up for long, even a split second was enough to avoid an enemy attack if used at the right time.^[2]

His Second Ability allowed him to infuse unnatural sharpness into his weapon, allowing him to cut through most obstacles.^[2] To sharpen his sword, he actually surrounds the blade with an incredibly thin, invisible displacement field.^[3]

Although both Abilities devoured soul essence with terrible speed, Awakened Belle was incredibly proficient in using them in precise, short bursts.^[2]

Flaw

He needed to work particularly hard on impulse control because he was not good at it.^[4]

Background

He was once stationed at a remote research outpost and had a Gate open nearby. The entire facility ended up being overrun and he was the only one to survive, but the Nightmare Creatures were on his heels. He had no means to contact the HQ. Also, the nearest human settlement was half a thousand kilometers away. It took him about a month to reach it on foot. The pursuing abominations were easy enough to deal with but by the end of it, he was badly hurt. Fortunately, a kind Ascended healer helped him recover.^[7]

Trivia

He, together with Kim, and Luster happened to reside in the same general area of the Dream Realm when they were deployed to Antarctica.^[8]
He was officially assigned to the First Irregular Company, Soul Reaper's unit.^[8]
He had heard that Ascended Sunless is a true monster, a demon-like fighter with a bloodthirsty streak. As a Sleeper, he appears to have killed 400 Awakened abominations. Some claim that before Awakening, he hunted down an ancient Fallen Devil.^[9]
At the beginning of the Antarctica campaign, he was extremely close to fully saturating his soul core.^[10]
Sunny imbued Belle's sword with a potent but passive sharpening effect of the enchanted straight razor.^[3]
He had a habit of sharpening his sword even though Memories did not need to be sharpened.^[11]
