“ A century is enough. Going further will only break what is left of you, my dear brother. If we can't redeem your sin, then… then, we must burn it away. The blessing of the Fire… we will invent our own instead of the one you lost! ”

― Sevras to his brother,
Chapter 637 Iron Cage

Sevras also known as the Sun Lord, is one of the rulers of Ivory City. He is also one of the Chain Lords of Kingdom of Hope.[2]

Appearance

He is tall and noble in bearing, with skin as white as ivory, lustrous golden hair, and amber eyes that were full of calmness, conviction, and melancholy.[6]

Personality

According to his brother, he was noble, valiant, and wise.[6] The noble and righteous Sevras might seem like the sanest among the immortals but in reality, he is the closest to utter madness.[7]

Aspect, Abilities & Flaw

Transformation Ability

He is a Transcendent whose Transformation Ability allows him to turn into a dragon.[8]

Flaw

Sevras has three flaws, one was his actual Flaw, the other is his brother, and the last one, the direst of them all, is his city.[9]

His actual flaw is that he is credibly powerful during the day but nearly powerless at night.[7] His second flaw is he genuinely cares for his younger sibling, the Sun Prince. The third one is his city, Sevras loves his people but also hates them. They are a burden that weighs heavily on his soul and one he cannot escape. Their relationship had long been perverted by Hope and by his own stubborn unwillingness to give up.[7]

Background

He was blessed by the Lord of Light and was entrusted with a sacred duty.[6] He has a twin brother, the Sun Prince who was the same as him.[6][2] The Ivory Knife was entrusted to him, who gave it to his brother.[6]

In one of Nightmare's dreams, he tortured his brother, at the latter's request, as penitence for the sin his brother committed, betraying the Lord of Light almost a century ago.[6]

Ivory Dragon Sevirax is also Sevras, the Ivory Lord and one of Hope's eternal shackles. He was a human once, a long time ago. According to him, he had never once asked the people of the Ivory City to sacrifice anyone, or anything, to him. They had invented the story and chose the number of the victims themselves. They started bringing him sacrifices of their own free will because doing so made them feel as though they were binding themselves to the dragon. That they were safe from him by becoming a part of the dragon.[8]

He had lost a part of himself a long time ago, but in the beginning, he wanted to be a good lord for the people, someone they could see and strive to become. Due to this, he rarely appeared in his Transcendent form before them. As centuries passed, he noticed that people were disturbed by his human face, and were only at peace when he came as a dragon. As if they needed him to be something greater than them, so after a while, he abandoned his human form completely. Not long after that, the sacrifices began.[8]

History

In Chained Isles, outside the second nightmare, the bones of the dragon, Sevirax, were located on Ivory Island.[10]

The Sun Prince's death had pushed him to the limit, and everything Sevras had bravely held back ran wild and instantly surged into his mind. Hundreds of years of bitter struggle crashed into the stronghold of his mind. In the end, he destroyed Ivory City.[11]

After his fate returned to him, the terrible wound on his neck sapped him of life. Even in his death, he protected the Ivory Tower due to his promise.[12]

Trivia

  • Kai called the lord of Ivory City "Lord Sevirax".[1]
  • The Glass Knife is the only thing that can kill Sevras, the blessed of the Sun. He was also known to people as Sevirax, the Ivory Lord.[3]
  • Of all the seven of the Chain Lords, only Sevras and Noctis belong to divine bloodlines, god lineage. Although Sevras and Sun Prince were brothers, Sevras is the only one who inherited the Fire.[9]
  • He possessed a piece of Shadow's domain which he used to devour the moon in a vast and impenetrable shadow. In turn, this weakens Noctis due to his flaw.[13]
