This recounts the events in the Second Nightmare.

Entrance

The entrance is the Dark Seed located inside the Ivory Tower. It was challenged by Sunny together with Cassie, Effie, Kai, and an unknown fifth member.[1]

Nightmare Creatures

History

At the very start of the Nightmare, the Ivory Tower had descended from the sky, and the burned wasteland around it had turned into a beautiful white city. Then the Ivory City was burned to the ground, and Hope's prison break off its seven chains and rise above the Chained Isles. The Crushing was created after.[2][3]

Prelude

Sunny found himself falling from the skies, in an unfamiliar body of a creature, into the so-called Kingdom of Hope.[4] He encountered Solvane who tried to kill him but was captured instead.[5] After some time, he woke up with a steel collar wrapped around his neck and realized he cannot summon his memories or runes and was completely cut off from the Spell.[6] He then find himself thrown inside a colosseum.[7]

Second Nightmare Summary

Goal

They had to either help Noctis free the terrifying Demon, Hope, or make sure that she would never escape. The five of them were pitted against the five immortal Saints. This is what they had to resolve to conquer the Nightmare.[3]

Aftermath

  • All seven chains were broken, and the Ivory Tower became untethered.[8]
  • Hope was set free.[8]
  • All challengers conquered the nightmare successfully thus ascended.[9]

Trivia

  • Sunny first found Kai in Chapter 660, Effie in Chapter 669, and Cassie in Chapter 679. Mordret appeared as a reflection in Chapter 710.
  • The Nightmare Spell had not even existed yet in this era but Awakened did, as well as Nightmare Creatures or what they call the Corrupted.[10]
  • Because of the cohort's arrival, the events in Kingdom of Hope happened faster.[11]
  • Mordret wants Sunny to keep Noctis alive, at all costs. If Sunny can accomplish this simple task, he can guarantee that they will conquer the Nightmare and escape it alive.[12]
  • Mordret wants to kill Hope.[13]
