“ A name? I used to have one of those, before. What was it? Oh! Eurys. Eurys of the Nine… ”

― Eurys to Nephis,
Chapter 500 ...In the Depths of a Nightmare

Eurys is one of the two weathered skeletons cruelly nailed to the white bark of an ancient tree. He reminds Nephis of someone she knew.[1]

Appearance

A skeleton dressed in rags, he had no lungs, no lips, and no tongue, but he can talk and hum a song.[5]

In Chapter 2122, Eurys appeared as a battered human skeleton, with a lone white skull resting amidst the graveyard of serpent bones. Though his form appears lifeless—devoid of soul essence or Corruption—he speaks with a nonchalant, almost friendly tone, his voice emerging eerily from within the unmoving skull.

Personality

“ Is that… is that living blood I smell? Gods! What terrible sins have you committed, girl, to be cast into this hell alive? Even for a revolting nephilim like you, this is too harsh of a punishment. ”

― To Nephis,
Chapter 500 ...In the Depths of a Nightmare

Even though he finds a Nephilim revolting, he still pities her. He also likes keeping a promise.[1] His manner is nonchalant, somewhat friendly, yet laced with sarcasm and dark amusement, as he openly acknowledges his past servitude and his knowledge of both the Shadow God and the mysterious archer.[6]

Background

He was just a humble slave who angered the gods due to misunderstanding. Apparently, he slit a god's throat. That is why he was punished to be nailed to a tree.[1]

Eurys claimed to have slit a god's throat, but it refers to an avatar, not the god's vast body.[7]

Eurys seemed to have participated in the Doom War on the side of the daemons.[8]

In Chapter 2124, it was concluded by Sunny from what Eurys told him that he had participated in the Doom War under the banner of the Demon Army. By the end of the war, the daemons were losing, evident from Eurys' capture by the Divine Host.

He claimed to have been cursed by the Shadow God, making him unable to die.[9]

Eurys is afflicted by the Shadow God's curse, which renders him effectively immortal. Unlike others who share this curse and have become "mindless husks", Eurys retained his identity and sanity due to being "nailed to that damn tree before the battle ended". The tree acted as a stabilizing force, preserving his mind through the ages. However, now that he has been freed, he expects to eventually succumb to the curse like the others.[10]

In Chapter 2370, it was revealed that he was a former prince. Their forgotten kingdom was in a peaceful realm, untouched by divine presence.[11][12][13]

Trivia

  • Eurys was unaware of the events after the Doom War, including Sunny and Nephis' origins, as he was bound to a tree for millennia.[7]
  • Eurys was once an imperial slave.[3] This was confirmed in Chapter 2370.
  • In Chapter 2268, Sunny tried to kill Eurys as a Supreme but still failed due to not being powerful enough to break Shadow God's curse yet.
  • He possessed [Fated] attribute like all of the Nine.[13][14]
  • He was tasked by the oracle to become a slave.[12] (Refer to the Vision)
  • According to Azarax, Eurys killed the avatar of War God, which ultimately sealed the War Empire's destiny and left the avatar of War God absent when the Doom War began.[15] Eurys did not simply slit the Dragon's throat. He did so with the Slaying Blade as a mere Transcendent.[16][4]
  • In Chapter 2855, Eurys was mentioned of having endured thousands of years of imprisonment, during which he freely admitted to losing his mind many times while hanging on the tree.
  • Eurys was already Supreme when Azarax met him.[4]
