Article contents
Tamar is one of the Sleepers sent by the Nightmare Spell to the Godgrave.[6] She is from Sorrow Clan.[1]
Appearance
In Chapter 1677, Her face smeared with ash and dirt, but she seemed to maintain a shred of composure.
She was a young woman with tan skin and strange ashen hair, wearing an intricate suit of full plate armor forged from lustrous steel.
She was a young woman of medium height.[7]
Personality
Tamar was raised by stern Legacy rulers, and often projected a stony, poised exterior. Tamar has natural somberness.[3]
Tamar knew how to be subtle and sneaky as she likely brought up their winter solstice to distract Ray from his wound.[8]
According to Sunny, she is an upright, loyal and frustratingly serious young woman.[9]
Aspect, Abilities & Flaw
Tamar possessed a powerful combat aspect. She served as the bulwark of her small cohort, excelling as a melee specialist due to her access to higher-quality memories.[10]

Her Ascended Ability allowed her to transform momentum into kinetic energy and channel that force in a variety of ways. The faster she was moving, the more devastation she could cause. She could release the accumulated force as a widespread explosion of kinetic energy around herself or concentrate it into a narrow cone in front of her. The momentum used in the conversion was consumed, bringing her to a stop and effectively freeing her from the normal constraints of inertia. This created numerous tactical possibilities in combat. Her power was not limited to her own momentum; she could also drain and convert the momentum of other objects and beings. She could enhance her swordsmanship by transforming the momentum of her sword into pure concussive force, drain the momentum of incoming arrows or blades, and even rob nearby enemies of their momentum. Rain described it as a versatile ability that would require extensive training to master.[11] |

Known Memories
Known Echoes
- Tamar received a gift from her clan, an Ascended Echo, which resembled a giant, monstrous wolf.[10]
Battle Ability
Tamar is a skilled combatant who wields a great zweihander and possesses astonishing speed and destructive power. During the battle in NQSC, she pulverized the center of a Nightmare Creature horde, killing hundreds of abominations in an instant. She moved through the swarm, severing, beheading, and splitting open scores of Nightmare Creatures. She subsequently reached and killed the Tyrant controlling the horde from the rear, using her momentum to unleash a blast of concussive force upon landing.[5]
History
She is one of the Sleepers sent by the Nightmare Spell to Godgrave.[6] One of the two other Sleepers who were hiding under a dead tree's roots in the Hollows, outside the Shadow Realm's Fragment, and inside the colossal skeleton's bones.[13] They hid and clung to life for days. Only when their water run out that Ray volunteered to go out and find help.[6]
When Nephis and Lord of Shadows saw them, she was holding on to a girl who seemed to be slowly falling unconscious.[1]
Rain, Tamr, Ray, and Fleur were among the Awakened warriors of the Seventh Legion, led by Saint Seishan.[14]
After the Realm War, Tamar suffered a harsh fate after the death of her father, the Saint of Sorrow, she became the head of the Sorrow clan during its collapse. As an Awakened, she couldn't claim the ancestral Citadel, which was instead taken by Saint Seishan. Though treated respectfully, her family chose to leave the Lake of Tears, becoming one of many fallen noble houses.[3]
Despite hardships, Tamar was already leading her clan's revival. She joined the Shadow Clan, gained fame in the Fire Keepers' tournament by defeating powerful Awakened, and rose to a dual position: officially a Fire Keeper, but unofficially a Shadow Clan leader in Bastion — and even serving as Rain’s occasional bodyguard.[3]
Background
Tamar revealed that she had an older, talented brother, who was the pride of their clan. He became a Master at an early age and died when he challenged the Third Nightmare. The age gap between the two of them was too big and she did not know him well.[15]
Trivia
- Sorrow Clan is a vassal clan of Song.[1]
- When Nephis told her to strive to survive, her soul ignited a spark of longing that turned into a gentle flame which connected them and made her a tentative part of Nephis's nascent, unrealized, almost non-existent Domain.[1]
- The survey mission was the first mission she had received as an Awakened.[2]
- She refuted the rumors about Nephis being a Skinwalker.[16]
- In Chapter 1785, Ray, Fleur, and Tamar told the porters how they survived Godgrave and even mentioned who the Lord of Shadows is.
- Tamar was willing to keep Rain's secret of being Awakened without the help of the Spell.[17]
- In Chapter 1844, Tamar's Father, Saint of Clan Sorrow, left to lead his own war party.
- Rain and Tamar had a matching tattoo.[18]
- She intended to take Ray, Fleur, Corsair, and Telle of White Feather into a Seed (Second Nightmare).[19] They entered the Second Nightmare in Chapter 2749.
- The old Citadel of Tamar's clan was described as supremely defensible. It stood at the source of the Lake of Tears, a location that gave it significant strategic value. In terms of travel and connectivity, the Citadel was naturally linked to all the other Citadels in the basin of the River of Tears, making movement to and from the stronghold relatively easy. It was destroyed in the Second Domain War.[20]
- She is a member of Clan Sorrow and one of the youngest Saints of humanity. She conquered her Third Nightmare only recently, having gained fame even before that when she was a mere Master.[5]
- Unlike most renowned figures of humanity, who are affiliated with one of the great powers, Tamar and her small band of elite warriors are one of the few independent forces that roam the realms while serving no one. Their whereabouts and the battlefields they appear on are unpredictable. Wherever Tamar appears, countless Nightmare Creatures die, and tides of battle are usually reversed.[5]
