The Esteemed Temporary Governor was the ruler of a dome within the ruined city, where life appeared more orderly compared to the chaos of NQSC.[1]

Appearance

He was an Awakened with clean features and a dashing smile.[1]

Personality

He presented himself as both polite and friendly to Warden and his team. Despite his outward charm, his ideology and rule are deeply disturbing.[1] He was portrayed as a delusional and tyrannical ruler of the dome, with extreme and unhinged beliefs. His ideology centers around the idea that only the Awakened are real people, while the non-Awakened (the mundane population) are mere beasts undeserving of rights or humane treatment. He considers the selection by the Nightmare Spell as divine will, anointing the Awakened as the true inheritors of Earth, while the rest are disposable.[2]

He enforces a brutal and oppressive regime within the dome, where mundane humans are essentially treated as slaves. His soldiers either share his twisted worldview or follow his rule because they benefit from the system. The order and safety within the dome do not stem from unity but from fear and subjugation, as those who fail their assigned tasks are cruelly punished or killed.[2]

Background

He expressed a belief in Awakened camaraderie, describing their existence as a solemn duty, reinforcing a sense of shared superiority among the Awakened. This rhetoric mirrored the supremacy movement seen in other domes, where those chosen by the Nightmare Spell are viewed as inherently superior to mundane humans.[1]

The most telling moment of his ruthless mindset occured during the lavish dinner he hosts for Warden and his warriors. When an old servant spilled a few drops of wine, the Governor wordlessly ordered a guard to drag the man away, calling it a minor issue in the process of "training cattle". This single act exposed his dehumanizing perception of non-Awakened people, saw them as mere livestock rather than fellow humans.[1]

While his rule maintained order and discipline within the dome, it was built on strict control and subjugation. His government appeared more structured than NQSC's recent disorder, yet it came at the cost of oppression and cruelty. The Governor embodied the same twisted philosophy seen in other Awakened supremacists, though he presented it with an air of refined civility rather than blatant fanaticism.[1]

Despite his power as an Awakened, the Governor ultimately fell victim to Jest and Warden's coordinated strike, designed to dismantle his rule. Jest personally killed him, provoking him into attacking first and then gutting him in his opulent dining room. The Governor's fall is swift, and his most loyal warriors are also eliminated. The remaining forces either surrender or flee.[2]

The true extent of the Governor's atrocities becomes evident when Warden and Jest discover a hidden cellar in his mansion, which leaves them both shaken and horrified. Whatever was inside confirms Warden's earlier belief that these people are beyond redemption. In the end, the remaining captives are handed over to the oppressed mundane citizens, who take bloody revenge upon their former tormentors.[2]
