Northern Quadrant Siege Capital (NQSC) or the "City" is the largest city left on Earth which is the industrial, military, and administrative heart of humanity. It is located in Asia and it shelters most people, around one-tenth of the human population, out of the four populated continents.[1]
Description
As long as one was not born in the outskirts, the city was a decent enough location to live. Tall buildings climbed high into the sky and dug deep into the ground, joined by aerial bridges and tunnels into a complex maze of reinforced alloy and graphene composite. The white monotony was occasionally broken by fake trees and grass in brilliant colors of green, yellow, orange, and red.[2]
Everything appeared clean and bright, unlike the dirty, dim, poisonous clutter of the outskirts. There were large screens displaying beautiful vistas of breathtaking landscapes that had not existed on Earth since centuries ago, as well as propaganda projections that had been masterfully designed to brighten the mood of the citizens.[2]
The crosswalks are crowded with endless streams of people, with the occasional PTV appearing from time to time. There were hundreds of millions of people who called this place their home. They could only survive and flourish here, shielded by the colossal outer barriers, protective air filtration systems, and powerful Awakened.[2]
Mode of transport
- Trams - magnetic trains that are used as public transportation by most people in the city.[3]
- Personal transport vehicle (PTV)[4] - vehicles that were rare, expensive, and demanded a special government license to purchase.[3]
- Long-range transcontinental train - a massive, heavily armored metal transport that stretched for hundreds of meters. Its long body is composed of various bulky segments. It was a fearsome moving fortress meant for high-ranking citizens, government officials, and members of Legacy clans.[5]
- Armored military PTV - different from the civilian models as well as the heavier police cruiser. It was much more robust and angular, weighted down by several layers of composite armor, and entirely grounded. It was perfectly capable of traversing natural terrain on its own.[6]

City Center
The houses in this district were all very low, no more than two or three stories high. The ground itself rose and fell in artificial tiers, each street existing on its own wide terrace. There are beautiful lawns and greenery which are revealed when the snow is gone. The whole district looked like a garden.[3]

Wilderness
Beyond the outskirts is the wild expanse of the Northern Quadrant that looked like a desolate, empty place entirely made out of mud and snow. Whatever flora still clung to life in the barren soil looked sickly and dull. The sky was heavy and grey and the air was slightly hazy. There are occasional skeletal carcasses of Nightmare Creatures and rusty wrecks left behind from the times of human wars.[5]
Fortified Ports
The port looked like an unassailable fortress, with tall walls rising from the water and various fortifications protruding far into the bleak waves. Colossal cannons were aimed at the horizon, and various spelltech defensive measures brimmed with energy, some of them hidden underwater.[7]
More impressive than the port were the ships, each was more than a kilometer long and as tall as a castle, and there were about forty of them anchored along the shore. Some appeared new and glossy, but the majority had obscenely large, deep scars. Numerous armor plates were cracked and rusted, and several had been damaged by unidentified tremendous impacts. Each ship was equipped with a wide variety of weapons, including snub-nosed mortars, quick-fire anti-airguns, and heavy artillery cannons.[7]
Trivia
- In Chapter 3207, it was mentioned that the Northern Quadrant was becoming humanity's last bastion in the Apocalypse.
