The Gathering of Demigods

The Gathering of the Demigods was held at the Tower of Hope shortly after the new Sovereigns conquered their respective Nightmares. The Ivory Island descended from the sky and settled on the waters of the Stormsea, positioning itself between Bastion and the rapidly growing city in the delta of the River of Tears. Silver Web and the Night Garden were also nearby, while the Chain Breaker and Time Slayer transported additional guests to the Tower of Hope.^[1]

The gathering brought together eleven Supremes, including the established rulers of humanity and the newly ascended Sovereigns. The attendees were Changing Star, Lost from Light, King of Nothing, Song of the Fallen, Ananke, Nightwalker, Seishan, Morgan, Kai, Jet, and Effie. The Tower of Hope was designated as a meeting place for the demigods of humanity, with no ordinary mortals present.^[1]

The primary purpose of the gathering was to establish how the Supremes would govern and protect humanity while preventing conflicts between their respective authorities. They discussed the division of territories, the sharing of responsibility for humanity's protection, and how they would stave off the apocalypse until true deities were born from their ranks.^[1]

The newly ascended Supremes had only recently conquered their Nightmares and had received little time to reunite with their families or explore their new powers. Consequently, the gathering also provided an opportunity for the more experienced Supremes to help them understand their Supremacy, including their newly developed powers and Domains.^[1]

Despite the historical conflicts between many of the Supremes, all eleven gathered peacefully for the meeting. The gathering represented the largest assembly of Sovereigns in human history and was held specifically to determine how the powerful demigods could coexist peacefully while humanity faced the continuing apocalypse.^[1]

After determining the general scope of the Supremes' powers, the eleven demigods discussed humanity's survival and identified three major tasks:^[2]

• Conquering the Fifth Nightmare^[2]
• Protecting the Dream Realm from Nightmare Creatures^[2]
• Preventing billions of people from perishing as the waking world collapsed^[2]

Sunny and Nephis were chosen to challenge the Fifth Nightmare, while Mordret remained undecided about joining them despite his immense power and Divine Aspect. Cassie volunteered to accompany them, and the three ultimately entered the Seed of the Fifth Nightmare to attempt to become humanity's new deities, while their absence and the impending dissolution of the Longing Domain, a supporting pillar of humanity during the early apocalypse, required major adjustments to humanity's plans.^[2]

The remaining Supremes have different strengths and limitations when establishing Domains. Some do not need the Nightmare Spell, while others benefit from controlling Citadels. Jet, for example, has no use for ruling a Citadel. These differences are taken into account when deciding how to divide the Longing Domain and preserve as much of humanity's strength as possible.^[3]

The tentative plan divides the remaining Sovereigns between the Dream Realm and the waking world. Jet, Kai, and Effie are assigned to defend Earth and oversee the resettlement of humanity. Effie's Soul Garden is particularly useful for accelerating the evacuation.^[3]

The remaining four defend the Dream Realm. Ananke remains in Silver Web and oversees the Stormsea. Seishan claims Ravenheart and the Citadel Cities in the River of Tears basin. Morgan claims Bastion and the former Sword Domain. Nightwalker takes control of the Night Garden and turns it into a wandering stronghold that keeps the different parts of the Human Domain connected.^[3]

As a result, the Longing Domain is divided among multiple Supreme protectors rather than remaining under Nephis. The Human Domain becomes a coalition of smaller Domains, with each area governed and protected by different Supremes.^[3]

• During the gathering, Effie briefly disrupted the formal atmosphere by asking whether there were any snacks. Sunny initially reacted with exasperation before assuring her that snacks would be provided.^[1]
