Overview

The Longing Domain is the Domain ruled by Nephis, the last daughter of the Immortal Flame clan and the ruler of humanity. It is described as a vast, splendid Domain composed of countless flames representing the longing of people connected to her.[1]

Within the Longing Domain, individuals are represented by fragile flames of longing burning in their hearts. Nephis does not know the names or faces of those connected to her Domain; instead, she perceives only their desires through these flames. New flames ignite as people are born or become inspired by Changing Star, while flames may grow brighter over time.[1]

Note: To distinguish the Domain of Nephis from Asterion's in the human Domain, her domain was termed by Sunny as Longing Domain in Chapter 2733.

Benefits

The Longing Domain provided humanity with:[2]

  • Miraculous flames capable of healing wounds and saving lives.[2]
  • Radiance that shone from beneath the skin and made people stronger.[2]
  • Protection for humans residing within the Dream Realm.[2]
  • A means through which humans could request the withdrawal of that protection in order to become Awakened.[2]

Loss and Absence of Flames

Flames within the Longing Domain are extinguished frequently. While many extinguished flames correspond to death, not all losses indicate that a person has died. Some flames disappear because individuals cease to be subjects of the Longing Domain, becoming servants of Asterion instead. Nephis senses these absences and grieves their loss, though determining the exact cause of a missing flame is difficult.[1]

Limitations of Perception

Although Nephis is connected to billions of people, she cannot perceive all flames simultaneously. Because of this limitation, not everyone who calls upon her healing light can receive its blessing at the same time. Her awareness of the Domain is broad but not exhaustive, making it difficult to identify missing flames when compared to records of documented deaths.[1]

Healing and Detection of Outliers

Nephis can extend healing white flames through the Longing Domain. Over a period of a month, she focused her healing on specific high-casualty regions, including intense battlefronts and perilous zones. This selective focus made it possible to identify Awakened individuals who were not healed despite grievous injuries. These outliers were later identified as no longer being subjects of the Longing Domain.[1]

Territories

Trivia

  • Individuals absent from the Longing Domain's sea of flames were discovered to be true subjects of Asterion's Domain, acting as sleeper agents serving the Dreamspawn. These individuals showed no outward signs of disloyalty or abnormal behavior and were only identifiable through their absence from the Longing Domain.[1]
  • The Longing Domain did not have a lot of time left, mentioned in Chapter 2844.
  • In Chapter 3147, the Longing Domain would soon cease to exist due to emergence of new Supremes and preparation for the Fifth Nightmare. (Refer to The Gathering of Demigods)
    • After the division of the Human Domain, leaving an individual Domain would become easier because the Human Domain would consist of a coalition of smaller Domains rather than being synonymous with a single Domain.[2]
