Volume 12: Prelude to Apocalypse

As the Dream Realm continues to consume Earth, humanity enters an increasingly desperate struggle for survival. Nightmare Gates multiply, Nightmare Creatures grow more aggressive, and entire regions are threatened by the collapse of civilization. Although humanity makes significant advances in magical knowledge, technology, military strength, and the construction of floating settlements, the apocalypse continues to draw closer. While chosen Saints venture into their Fourth Nightmare to strengthen the Human Domain, Sunny and Nephis venture into the Underworld in search of a way to increase their strength, eventually obtaining the Shadow Weave despite facing the horrors lurking within its depths.

With the threat of the apocalypse becoming impossible to ignore, the new Supremes gather to divide their territories, coordinate humanity's defenses, and prevent their Domains from coming into conflict. Meanwhile, Sunny begins preparing for the Fifth Nightmare, knowing that his own powers may become liabilities within it.

With the apocalypse drawing closer, Sunny, Nephis, and Cassie journey to America in search of a Nightmare Gate and its Seed, where they encounter Mordret and discover that the Gate's guardian, Desolation, has already been slain. He then joins them in entering the Nightmare. Separated after crossing the boundary between worlds, Sunny finds himself within the titanic skull of a dead god in Godgrave. Guided by the Call of Nightmare toward the Seed of Nightmare, he plunges into its depths and begins his Fifth Nightmare.
