This is a recount of the events about the war between Song and Valor clans to who will get to Black Skull Citadel and conquer the Tomb of Ariel.

Nightmare Creatures

History

Actual Goal of Great Clans
Saints and their forces will not stay behind siege capitals, as they have a secondary goal of attacking Nightmare Creatures outside the pyramid.[1]

Song and Valor will compete to conquer the black pyramid by searching for Nightmare Gates in the part of the Dream Realm. They will use the Call to move their Saints, Masters, and Awakened to secure forts and set up temporary outposts. Expeditions will be launched from these outposts toward the pyramid, aiming to find a safe location, build a fortress, and use it as a base for capturing the Tomb.[2]

Each hundred or thousands of Nightmare Gates in East Antarctica was connected to a Seed of Nightmare in the region surrounding the Tomb of Ariel. By relying on the Call, these Gates could be used to enter the Dream Realm near the corresponding Seed, allowing great clans to transport their forces without immediate annihilation. They would then explore and fight their way toward the black pyramid. The region could contain several Citadels, with Song or Valor establishing a safe corridor to ferry fighters and supplies. However, the mysterious desert was lethal, and the great clans would have to fight against the endless flood of Nightmare Creatures and each other.[2]

Prelude

A Citadel was first discovered by Valor Clan in the Nightmare Desert but failed in their attempt to capture it due to Mordret's intervention.[3][4] Due to this, both clans have an equal chance to possess the Nightmare Gate leading to the Citadel.[4]

Battle

In Chapter 1191, it was revealed that the Corrupted Titan, located near the area where the Nightmare Gate leading to the area of Black Skull Citadel, was actually a Transcendent Echo of Morgan. She has unleashed her echo in East Antarctica and allowed it to roam free destroying several human outpost and killed every scout sent by Evacuation Army. This Titan Echo was supposed to protect the Nightmare Gate and seal the access to the Citadel until it was captured by Valor Clan but Mordret bypass it entirely. So, Morgan was forced to shift her strategy to use it to lure the Song Clan's forces on the battlefield.

Cause of War

The great clans have been suppressing the Transcendence of independent Awakened for decades. Now that a continent is on the verge of being destroyed, the great clans have been at odds with each other for a long time and have only decided to start a real war now that a whole continent is on the verge of being destroyed.[5]

The great clans now are not caring about suppressing the number of Saints which is due to the Chain of Nightmares that will continue, and soon all of Earth will be the same as Antarctica.[5]

Only one powerful Domain can withstand the future, and Valor or Song must fall.[5]

Aftermath

  • Dire Fang died at the hands of Sunny with the help of Nephis.[6][7]
  • Madoc was killed by the creature from Category Four Gate.[8]
  • All armies of both Song, Valor and the Government were trapped between the Nightmare gates, three of which were category four.[8] The survivors escaped into the Nightmare Desert.[9]
  • Silent Stalker's whereabouts are unknown after the battle.[10]
  • Sky Tide was not seen after entering the Dream Realm and would have been able to escape from the Gate Guardian. She was already spent at the end of the battle that she might have fled into the waking world.[10]
  • Sunny and his friends were forced to challenge the Third Nigthmare with Mordret.[5][11]
