Tower of Longing

Outside the pagoda, there is a large garden where various vegetables are growing, surrounded by a neat and tidy wooden fence. There are also several other wooden structures, some meant for training and some resembled simple barns.^[3]

The upper levels of the great pagoda became the home of Fire Keepers. The first level is mostly empty and is where the gateway is located.^[4]

One of the Ivory Tower's components was a wave of invisible force that could crash the rising abominations.^[5]

The Crushing is described as a devastating Component of the Ivory Tower, commonly believed to only destroy, which is why it is called the Crushing, but it is actually a far more versatile force. It originates from the power of the Tower of Hope, defined as a mystical sister of gravity, embodying the power of attraction, though not even the current master of the great pagoda fully understands its capabilities. The Crushing can repel all things, both physical and spiritual, away from the Ivory Island, or pull them toward it. This duality is what allowed the Chained Islands to exist for thousands of years, suspended between the two extremes of Hope's Tower. It also has the ability to make all things weightless or cause them to collapse under their own weight. Its force intensifies with proximity to the Ivory Island, becoming so overwhelming that not even gods could overcome it unscathed. While it can easily be used to destroy anyone or anything attempting to approach the island, it can also be shaped with precision, such as forming a narrow sphere or a weak repelling field around the island instead of being used purely for destruction.^[6]

Ivory Tower, formerly Hope's prison cell, is the exclusive human Citadel conquered by Cassie, Effie, Kai, and Sunny following the events of Second Nightmare.^[7][8] It also became the citadel of the Fire Keepers and Nephis.^[4]

Ivory Island has undergone some changes. The great pagoda remained unchanged, but the wooden buildings created by Fire Keepers have transformed into a small, peaceful village that blended harmoniously into the landscape. The ancient trees of the grove have fruit hanging from their branches. The white bones of the ancient dragon still bathe in sunlight and a graceful ship sway on the clear lake.^[9]

• Cassie, Effie, Kai, and Nephis explored the tower and unlocked the path to the underground chamber.^[10]
• In Chapter 1068, the Ivory Island has left the empty expanse of the Tear behind and is now drifting through the clouds towards the southern border of the Chained Isles.
• In Chapter 1593, it was atop the tallest tower of Bastion. The Citadel's lady and her warrior had been sent to defend remote human enclaves in recent years.
• In Chapter 1753, flashback of Sunny's memory, the Ivory Tower is set to depart the Chained Isles.
• In Chapter 2864, Cassie became in charge of the citadel, along with it's Components when Nephis was absent. However, in Chapter 2870, Cassie surrendered the claim to the citadel during her fight with Nightwalker, making it ownerless.
