Overview

Shadowspawn is one of Shadow God's creatures. It was Sunny's body during the Second Nightmare.[2]

Description

Demon

The creature is at least two meters tall with light grey skin, the color of the stone. Its legs were long and digitigrade, bending backward and ending with powerful, sharp claws. They had four arms, each longer and stronger than that of a human, and a long twisting tail. Its face was like that of a demon, with sharp features and a mouth full of terrifying fangs. Two curved horns were growing from its forehead, and its hair was long, black, and coarse.[2]

Its eyes were fully black, with no irises and two vertical, furious pupils. It didn't seem to possess the vocal cords of a human.[2] Its body has two hearts and four lungs.[3] With obsidian skin, the four-armed demon's gaunt body was too tall, heavy, and unwieldy.[4] Due to having upper arms that were much longer than that of a human, it can bend down on all fours and break into a bestial gallop.[5]

Devil

The shadow devil was now almost three meters tall. His skin had turned into a darker shade of grey, and his claws seemed they were cut out of glossy morion. His horns had grown longer and sharper. There were now four of them or three and a half, considering that one had been broken in the ferocious fight with the Ascended War Maiden Hilde. The eyes which had been entirely black previously now seemed like two pools of eerie darkness. The shadowspawn had been fearsome before, but now, it was simply terrifying.[6]

The devil had obsidian skin, bestial features, eyes that seemed like pools of liquid darkness, and twisting horns.[7]

Race Abilities

Their eyes are much keener and were naturally able to see in utter darkness. The world in their eyes was basically black and white or rather consisted of various shades of grey, similar to how the world is seen through the shadows. Their sense of smell was also enhanced which makes it hard to concentrate on one thing or make sense of all the mess.[8]

Despite the devil's size, its gaunt body was incredibly nimble and swift. It was also capable of bursts of monstrous, explosive strength that would leave many people stunned.[7]

In addition, its body was a weapon itself with the talons, claws, fangs, and horns. It was capable of delivering a lot of damage unarmed and can even kill things with the spike at the end of its tail.[7]

Trivia

  • Later, Sunny was dressed in a black kimono, and his dark hair was tied with a silk ribbon.[9] He also wore a pair of leather sandals. The garment was made out of silk, intricately stitched, and fit his towering figure perfectly. It had four sleeves, indicating that someone sewed it specifically for him. According to Noctis, the black kimono is made from "Night Silk".[10]
  • The original shadowspawn was to blame for what happened to the prince of the Ivory City.[11]
  • Since the body of a shadowspawn cannot talk, Noctis gave Sunless an emerald trinket which allowed his thoughts to be said out loud.[12] Later in Chapter 695, it was destroyed and replaced by Extraordinary Rock.
