Nameless Temple is the name of the citadel Sunny owned, which he had personally conquered and claimed.[2]
Description
On the Peak of Black Mountain
- Main article: Black Mountain
The great hall of an ancient temple was desolate and empty. The roof partially collapsed, and the floor was covered with rubble. Moonlight fell through the holes in the roof that suffused the dark hall with a beautiful and otherworldly splendor. Deep shadows surrounded the silver light, not daring to touch it.[3]
The altar, which was once a single slab of black marble, was broken. The shattered slab of black marble was a Gateway.[3]
Godgrave
- Main article: Godgrave
A magnificent temple stands at the very edge of the abyss. Its colossal columns and walls are cut from black marble, with exquisite reliefs decorating the stygian pediment and broad frieze. The temple resembles the palace of a dark god. The ground in front of the palace was littered with countless bones. The temple is a citadel.[4]
The dark temple's interior was engulfed in deep shadows.[5]
The hidden level of the temple was a reflection of the main hall, with black marble pillars descending from the ceiling and a vast expanse of solemn emptiness. The only difference was the absence of an altar and the mystical circle occupying the far wall.[6]
The circle, a striking combination of order, chaos, and beauty, was akin to a wall of black marble transformed into a liquid, swirling around an invisible axis before solidifying in a ripple. It could absorb vast essence, causing a sense of magnetic pressure.[6]

Components
- Main article: Components
The Nameless Temple had two powerful Components:[1]
- The first Component was the invisible Guardian. The creature, unseen and imperceptible, had been responsible for killing anyone trying to enter the temple.[1]
- The second Component was a vast mystical circle carved into the wall opposite the towering gate. The mystical circle was the heart of the enchantment that allowed the Citadel to wander freely across realms. As long as the master of the Citadel flooded the ancient temple with an ocean of essence, it could vanish from one location and appear miraculously elsewhere.[1]
The circle was not comprised of runes or elements of any other type of sorcery Sunny could recognize. The only thing he could think of that resembled the enchantment of the Nameless Temple were the knives Sun God had created alongside the Chain Lords. Perhaps it was divine sorcery, which followed no rules and bent the world to its will simply by existing.[1]
Locations
- Somewhere in Death Zone.[2] A part of Godgrave was swallowed by darkness, and the stormy sky's scattered light was ineffective against it, while deep shadows remained unaffected by the bright daylight.[8]
Almost fifty kilometers to reach the heart of his territory, where the breastbone plain abruptly ends into a vast chasm. The spine of a titanic skeleton was below and to the left and right, its ribs rising like mountains. Right ahead, illuminated by lanterns, a magnificent temple stands at the very edge of the abyss.[4]
- Somewhere in Death Zone.[2] A part of Godgrave was swallowed by darkness, and the stormy sky's scattered light was ineffective against it, while deep shadows remained unaffected by the bright daylight.[8]
- In Chapter 2234, Sunny moved the temple (along with the Fragment of the Shadow Realm) from the southern edge of Breast Bone to the northern edge.
- In Chapter 2260, Sunny moved the temple in Forgotten Shore.
Background
Sunny's First Nightmare
The Citadel was the same temple Sunny had once used to sacrifice himself to the gods. It was assumed to be a temple of Shadow God back then.[1]
During Sunny's First Nightmare, which took place at the end of the Golden Age just before the Age of Daemons doomed the world to destruction, it stood on the peak of a desolate black mountain already been empty for thousands of years. The only creature who ever visited it was the Mountain King, who seemed to possess a spark of divinity in its soul.[1]
The timing of the temple's destruction was a mystery, as the imperial soldiers were actively destroying shrines and monasteries of the Shadow God yet the stygian edifice of the grand temple appeared to have been in ruins for years before the incident.[1]
The destruction of the Shadow cult was a recent event during his First Nightmare[9][10], but the temple looked as if it had been ruined thousands of years ago.[10]
When Sunny spilled his blood on the altar, the Spell described it as an offering to all the gods, but the gods were still alive at the time of the Nightmare. The Shadow God granted Sunny a blessing from beyond the grave, as they were the ones who had created things like time and death.[11][10]
Sunny tried to remember everything he knew about the First Nightmare, the dead gods, and the secrets of the fallen pantheon. A memory from the Spell after the First Nightmare stands out as a poetic summary of a nameless slave who ascended the Black Mountain, entered the ruined temple of a long-forgotten god, and spilled his blood on the sacred altar. Sunny, an ignorant kid from the outskirts, had no prior knowledge of the world's greatest secrets. He wonders why the sacrifice was made to all the gods, possibly because this temple was built before the memories of the seventh god were struck from the world.[3]
Speculation 1
Sunny suspected that the Nameless Temple was more ancient than anything else in the Dream Realm. It should have been built during the dawn of time, the early days of the Age of Gods, and was meant to worship the entire pantheon, including the seventh god. However, it was abandoned and lost, just like the Dream God.[1]
Speculation 2
The Nameless Temple could have been the temple of the Forgotten God, built by heretics who worshipped the lost god despite the will of the remaining gods.[1]
Speculation 3
It was believed that it had been wandering the realms long before being made into a Citadel by the Nightmare Spell. The wandering temple had not been built on the peak of that dark mountain but instead appeared there one day, already in ruin.[1]

Discovery

Sunny discovered the actual Nameless Temple when he unexpectedly recognized the Black Mountain while traveling through the Dream Realm. He had never intended to investigate his First Nightmare further, since the history of that era had mostly been erased by the devastation of the Doom War, but seeing the mountain's distant peak stirred both bewilderment and subtle curiosity. Remembering the slave caravan's agonizing climb up its frozen slopes, he decided to revisit it, using his shadow step to traverse in moments what had once taken days of suffering. When he reached the summit, after swiftly slaughtering the monstrous descendants of the Mountain King's brood, he stood in awe as he beheld the temple under the moonlit sky—the same black marble structure he had entered as a powerless slave, still standing despite the passage of thousands of years. Though ruined and surrounded by even more bones than before, it appeared almost untouched by time, its solemn sanctity unchanged.[10]
As Sunny approached, he realized this was no illusion or memory reconstructed by the Spell, but the real temple itself. His understanding deepened when he sensed the presence of its invisible guardian—vast, intangible, and ancient—something he had been unable to perceive during his First Nightmare. The guardian had always been there, silently judging those who approached, which explained the countless bones scattered across the summit. It had spared Sunny before because it sensed the faint mark of divinity on his soul, though he had not known it then. Now, as a bearer of the golden flame of divinity, Sunny felt the being reaching toward that light with recognition and joy rather than malice. In that moment, he understood how close to death he had unknowingly come during his first visit and confirmed that the temple he once thought part of the Nightmare's construct had always been an actual sacred place, one that existed beyond the Spell's imitation and had truly answered his blood offering through the dead gods themselves.[10]
Trivia
- Sunny had taken a month of meticulous preparation to attack the Great Demon in its lair somewhere in the vicinity of the temple.[2]
- In Chapter 1800, the ruined temple feels sacred. A sense of solemn, silent sanctity emanates from the obsidian walls of the ancient temple, and the ground around the ruin does not feel vile or ominous.
- In Chapter 1883, Sunny mentioned that his Citadel was protected by Nightmare and equipped with an invisible Guardian, which was not defenseless, as no Saint could sense or destroy it.
- It was mentioned in Chapter 2912 that Sunny retrieved the Dollhouse from the Jade Palace and later sealed in the underground hall of the Nameless Temple due to it being too dangerous to be left in a city as populous as Ravenheart — or any city where mundane humans lived.
