Ruined Cathedral is a temple of a nameless goddess and was guarded by Forsaken Knight. He patrolled the grand hall, killing anyone who dared to come inside.[1]

Interior

Hidden Chamber

It was situated in the upper part of a ruined cathedral, the entrance hidden behind a tall statue of some unknown goddess.[1]

Inside the room was beautiful and spacious. The stone walls were engraved with intricate patterns, creating an atmosphere of sanctity and elegance. The furniture was made out of pale polished wood. The room had no windows, however, there were light wells cunningly hidden here and there. But the ingenious system of mirrors that was supposed to bathe the hidden chamber in sunlight was long destroyed, leaving only darkness inside.[2]

There was a small balcony where one can be allowed to observe the grand hall of the temple over the goddess's shoulder, concealed from sight by the strands of her stone hair. The balcony was really high above the floor, making it impossible for any creature to climb on it by accident. Falling down would certainly kill a normal human.[1]

Another entrance was through the hole in the cathedral's roof, landing on one of the wide support beams, and walking across, one will notice the small balcony.[1]

Main Hall

The tenebrous grand hall of the majestic cathedral was drowned with darkness, clinging to its walls and tall columns.[3]

Underground

There was a hollow space behind a particular wall that one can only open through a hidden lever. It was an ancient mechanism that had rusted and disintegrated over thousands of years of neglect.[4]

The hidden passage led underground, twisting and turning through the mass of stone. It was right beneath the spot where the statue of the goddess should have been, the narrow passage opened into a larger room. In it was a deep well that led further down, with a winding staircase spiraling down into a large chamber that seemed to be carved into the bedrock. On the other side of it was a large door forged from black steel stood, illuminated by two burning torches. The strange torches seemed to be producing light, but it was pale and ghostly. There was also no heat coming from it. The shadows cast by the ghostly flames were absolutely motionless. It was as though the light of the torches had trapped and paralyzed them somehow.[5]

On the monolithic black door, there was a small keyhole hidden on its dark surface. Behind the door, a small room was carved into the rock and in it was a corpse in a dark mantle chained to the floor inside a circle.[5]

Trivia

  • A large part of the grand hall was drowned with True Darkness. It was not confirmed whether it was summoned or simply obeyed the Black Knight.[6]
