The Hollows of Godgrave were too dangerous for anyone weaker than a Saint to survive, even Saints could easily die here.[2]
Description
Inside the dead deity's breastbone, which was comparable in size to a modest continent, encompassing a realm of its own. The bone marrow that once filled the sternum's interior had vanished, leaving a hollow and replaced by a dreadful jungle.[3]
The humid air was filled with strong scents, and the subterranean jungle was filled with countless trees, ferns, vines, and wild bushes. Bloodred moss covered everything, and colossal pillars of abominable flora rose to the dome of the sternum, attached to the cracks on its surface. The jungle had extended tendrils to reach the sky, which were used to the diffused sunlight and re-grow when incinerated. Under the canopy, powerful abominations lived, including Corrupted, Great, and Cursed, some of which were enormous and grotesque, and only those lucky enough to reach maturity could survive in the Hollows. The dark jungle was deadly, with most deaths horrid.[3]
Citadels
It had four known Citadels:[4]
- In the western part of the Collarbone Hollow near the Song Army war camp.[4]
- The hill was tall and strangely shaped, with its dark and barren slopes. It occasionally created ripples that created from it across the shallow water, reaching the jungle edge. It seemed like an enormous creature was breathing, its breaths reverberating in ancient bones.[5]
The Citadel was guarded by a Great Demon.[5]
The West Collarbone Plain is described as the last bastion of the Song Army in Godgrave. It is accessible via two paths originating from the Breastbone Reach, an area now under the control of the King of Swords. The northern route, known as the Greater Stronghold, directly connects the titanic breastbone to the right collarbone of the dead deity. The southern route, called the Lesser Stronghold, passes through the right first rib and is where Sunny had been stationed in Chapter 2081.[2]

- In the central part of the Breastbone Hollow, at an equal distance from both of the war camps.[4] (Refer to Vanishing Lake)
- In the spine of the dead god, reaching it was the most challenging. All of Godgrave is hell, but the great Spine Hollow is one of the most dreadful parts of that hell.[4]
- Refer to Journey to Spinal Ocean
- The furthest is hidden in one of the two Femur Hollows in the far south.[4]
- The Citadel, which Gilead was ordered to capture, stood on the last plateau of the god's skeleton, right on the shore of the Sea of Ash.[6]
- Bathed in the oppressive heat of a cloudy sky, a desolate, otherworldly landscape dominated by the colossal femur of a dead deity, lying cracked and weathered on a sloping plain. The winds howl through deep canyons that scar the surface, adding to the eerie desolation. Unlike other parts of this world, no scarlet vines or jungles cover the bone or its surroundings, leaving the area lifeless and silent. The femur extends down to the edge of the forbidding Sea of Ash, a place so perilous that even the Lord of Shadows avoids. The fate of the tibia and fibula remains a mystery, as they are either buried beneath the ash or altogether absent — an enigma no one dares to investigate.[7]
The femur of a dead deity formed a great inclined plain, turning into a labyrinth of deep canyons at its southern edge, marking the end of Godgrave. This transformation resulted from a massive blow thousands of years ago that shattered both of the god's femurs near the knees. Deep cracks ran through the ancient bone, some leading to the Hollows, while others extended to the Sea of Ash, an endless grey expanse. The knee joints were buried in ash, and it was uncertain whether the tibias and fibulas remained beneath or had been completely severed.[6]

- A fifth Citadel is suspected to be in the skull of the dead deity, but it is too harrowing and should not be approached. It was advised against disturbing anything hidden there.[4]
