Desecrated Grove

Desecrated Grove lay west of the Sanctuary, separated from it by a stretch of long chains.^[2]

This large remote island is somewhat near the main route from one of the Great Chains. It is located southern part of the Chained Isles which was relatively safe due to it having been tamed by humans more than a decade ago.^[3]

The surface of the island was overtaken almost entirely by a forest of twisted, charred, dead trees. The ground was covered by a thick layer of ash, which was often thrown into the air by the strong winds. Grey flakes rained down from the sky. There were many Nightmare Creatures nesting in the dark forest, and most of them were of the Awakened Rank.^[4]

The Heart Grove was the jewel of the Kingdom of Hope. These trees had stood upon the ancient land before it had been shattered and weathered the terrible cataclysm of Desire's imprisonment.^[1]

All of the pilgrims that came to the Sacred Grove were overwhelmed by sorrow and regret. It is the reason they sought out a passage to the Sacred Grove. This was a place of solace.^[1]

In the end, the sacred grove was burned down and destroyed along with its guardian, Aidre.^[5]

• There are several corrupted creature nesting on islands in close vicinity to it.^[2]
• The word "desecrated" implied that the burned grove had been sacred once.^[6]
• The wondrous tree which kept the ancient ship afloat in the sky had come from this island, once.^[6]
• The Soul Devouring Tree is connected to the sacred tree on the Chain Breaker that had come from Heart God's desecrated grove. The strange tree that Eurys of the Nine was nailed to in punishment is also connected to the sacred tree.^[7]
