Overview

Crimson Spire is located at the center of the Labyrinth and Forgotten Shore itself.[2][3] It is where the gateway of Forgotten Shore is located guarded by a Fallen Terror.[4][2]

Function

The Crimson Spire is a giant soul machine created to collect soul essence and funnel it into the artificial sun. However, it can't function without the vessel — a human to serve as the fulcrum of all that power, the conduit for all the collected souls.[5]

Structure

Exterior

From a distance, it looked like a bloodied sword that some primordial titan had thrust into the heavens. The crimson coral streamed from its walls like the blood of gods, spreading out from the base of the Spire to devour all of the Forgotten Shore. The tower itself seemed to stand on an island, which was surrounded from all sides by black water.[6]

Interior

In the depths of Crimson Spire, there are growths of corals everywhere. They resembled frozen waterfalls of blood as if rivers of it had once streamed from the top of the Spire and then turned solid. Further away, the interior of the tower was shrouded in cold darkness.[7]

At the ground level of the Spire, passing through the barrier of coral and approaching the center is where the Dark Sea was imprisoned under an indomitable seal inside a gargantuan well. Its surface was perfectly still and flat like a harrowing mirror made from pure darkness.[7]

There were no stairs or lifting mechanisms but there were many twisted coral pillars that were wide enough for several people to walk on and not steep to make it difficult to reach the next level.[8]

As one ascends, the coral pillars twisted upward at an almost vertical angle and grew narrower. There were also stone galleries situated here and there on the walls of the Crimson Spire.[9]

Deep Well

In the heart of the ruins of the Spire was a deep well. Its surface was perfectly still and flat, resembling a harrowing mirror made from pure darkness.[10]

Gateway

Almost to the center of the gargantuan structure, a vast balcony was built into the wall of the tower. On its surface were broken pillars of marble overgrown by streaks of crimson coral. They led to a circular dais with a wide iron ring submerge into its stone surface. Around the ring, a beautiful pattern of runes shimmered with light. The stone surface surrounding the ring was devoid of growths of crimson coral.[1]

Background

Trivia

  • In Chapter 2282, the ruins of Crimson Spire look like a mountain of shattered black stone, towering like a colossal gravestone, surrounded by remnants of slain Nightmare Creatures. A stone colossus kneels at the site, holding its severed head.
  • It was once the site of a massive human sacrifice to create an artificial sun and seal a curse of darkness (the Dark Sea) beneath the spire. The Seven Heroes were responsible for this seal, although their methods remain mysterious — not runes, Shaping, or woven magic.[10]
