Description
A tall structure emerged at the lake's center, resembling a beautiful temple and grand castle. Its walls were made of pale wood, resembling countless white trees fused. The structure resembled a pagoda with layers of tiled roofs, deep eaves, and triangular gables. The crimson tiles on the sloped roofs were worn and faded but were once vividly scarlet. The white temple was overgrown with vermilion moss, vines, and tree branches, resembling a vertical garden in the lake.[4]
Gateway
The Gateway is beneath a crystalline dome, amidst a small grove of plants. Scarlet vines surrounded the grove, while inside, ordinary plants thrived. The center of the hidden meadow features lush green grass, ancient oak trees, soft moss, and vibrant flowers. A serene pond of clear water lies in the darkness, with ripples suggesting an underlying current. Inside the crystal dome, one felt a profound sense of sanctity, untouched by corruption. Intricate carvings resemble ancient protective spells, hinting at forgotten lore. The pond serves as the Gateway.[6]
History
It was renamed after Nephis reduced most of it to ashes during her confrontation with Moonveil. The troops stationed within the Breastbone Reach were the top of the Sword Army, veterans who had endured the nightmarish campaign to claim the Citadel. This secondary camp would serve as the spearhead of the war against Song Army.[1]
Trivia
- The guardian of the Citadel was a towering, vaguely humanoid abomination wrapped in a billowing dark robe. Elements of intricate silver armor covered its long arms and slender torso, and six pairs of beautiful grey wings extended from its back.[7] It was a higher-class Great Nightmare Creature, possibly a terror or even a Titan.[4]
