Aspect: (Unnamed)
Mordret's aspect has to do with mirrors, reflections, and souls. He is able to travel through mirrors and control the reflections.[1]
The manifestation of his Aspect Ability can create a kind of Echo (Reflection).[2] He can split his soul cores to create mirror creatures similar to "Mirror Beast".[3]
In Chapter 738, notice that he can only absorb back up to 6 cores from his reflections which adds up to 7 cores.
Rank: Awakened[5] → Ascended[6] → Transcendent[7] → Supreme[8] → Sacred[9] → Supreme[9] → Great[9] → Supreme.[10][11]
In Chapter 2962, Cassie observed Mordret's runes shifting in her mind from an unreadable, liminal state—Rank: Supreme… Class: —… Soul Cores fluctuating—into overlapping, competing strings that stabilized briefly at Soul Cores: [1/7] and Rank: Sacred, before destabilizing again amid his agony and ultimately transforming into a new, singular declaration: Rank: Great. (Refer to Mordret's Desperate Gamble)
After Mordret (version of him on the verge of becoming a Great Rank Nightmare Creature) forced a shard into his other self's hand and commanded him to strike.[10] Mordret awakened in the shattered underground hall where the mirror and the man who had become the King of Nothing had vanished, leaving only a bloodied mirror shard in his hand. Having finally absorbed the last shard of himself after decades spent shattered and incomplete, he became whole and human again.[11]
Class: Terror → Beast → Titan → Beast → Monster → Beast → Titan → —[9].
He can sacrifice his strength and split his cores to create reflections similar to a lesser version of Mirror Beast.[12] He could also absorb back the reflections to increase his soul cores.[13]
In Chapter 1509, in his POV, he mentioned that all his Reflections were destroyed (refer to Battle of the Black Skull), leaving only a soul core, reducing his power to a Beast.
Soul Cores: [6/7][14] → [1/7][12] → [7/7][13][15] → [1/7][16][17] → [2/7][18] → [1/7][19] → [7/7][20] → [1/7][9]
Citadel:
Night Garden[21][22] (Former)[23][24]
Red Hill (Current)[25]
Mordret took control of the entire Stormsea after the fall of House of Night. (Technically it was under Song Domain)[21][22]
After the throne war, Mordret abandoned the Stormsea Citadels and vanished.[23]
In Chapter 2559, he claimed Hollow Mountains.
In Chapter 2803-2804, he took a citadel named Red Hill, claiming that Glass Hell suited him and that it was fitting for him to build himself a castle.
Show/Hide Aspect Abilities
| Received in | Ability | Chapter Mentioned | Status | Aspect Abilities |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| First Awakening (After First Nightmare) |
Dormant (Sleeper) | 438 577 |
Active |
As a Sleeper, Mordret had been able to see through reflections, as well as travel through them both mentally and physically.[4] He can also use the drops of rain as mirrors to reflect the happenings in his surroundings. These are all projected into his head.[26] Mordret's Dormant Ability allowed him to perceive the world through any reflection around twenty-four kilometers — adjusted for the fact that he was merely a Beast. It also allowed him to travel physically between these reflections.[27] |
| Awakening (After first escape from Dream Realm) |
Awakened (Awakened) | 577 | Active |
His second Ability enables him to enter someone's soul and possess them by looking into their eyes.[28][29][27] By taking a vessel, he inherits their Memories, Echoes, their Aspect, and also their Flaw, similar to one of his creations — Reflection.[1] By having eye contact with his target, he can invade their soul sea and mirror their Aspect and Abilities to destroy their soul and get their body.[30][14][31] According to Mordret, his second Ability enables him to enter people's souls through their eyes, and destroy them, but he had to defeat the soul first. During a soul battle, he could rely only on his own prowess and on reflecting the power of the soul he was invading. Defeat meant death.[4] To win a soul battle, he had to gain a better understanding of the enemy's power than the enemy possessed, often in seconds. The corrupted souls of Nightmare Creatures were even more deadly. He had to be better, smarter, have greater skill, possess a deeper understanding of combat, and break and manipulate his opponent. There was no trick to it. The best way to win a soul battle was to prepare by studying the enemy in advance, to learn the details and intricacies of their Aspect. It was better if he had managed to shake the enemy, making their soul weaker.[4] See also: Vessels |
| Ascension (After Second Nightmare) |
Ascended (Master) | 1498 | Active |
His Ascended Ability involved establishing a physical space in the realm of reflections, capable of containing physical items and living things. It was a pure utility ability.[16] He called it Mirror Realm, which is an extension of his Ascended Ability.[38] The true manifestation of his Ascended Ability is a space solely his, a reflection of his Soul Sea.[16] Mordret can pull people, against their will, into a reflection even from some distance.[38][16] He can also pull out and store a human body out of reflective surfaces.[39] The space only contained the part of the world that reflected in the mirror's surface or any reflective surface, and a small area around it. Getting people inside consumes essence.[38] The world inside the reflection was inverted.[40] |
| Transcendance (After Third Nightmare) |
Transcendent (Saint) |
1509 | Active | Like the Soul Stealer, the Prince of Nothing's transformation ability allowed him to split his soul and wear multiple bodies simultaneously. Although weaker than the Plague, it was more limiting for those who didn't succumb to Corruption otherwise he could have consumed humanity by now.[41] (Refer to Mordret's Transformation Ability)

| Supremacy (Natural Supremacy) |
Supreme (Sovereign) |
2552 | Active |
Evolved Abilities After becoming a Supreme, Mordret's powers evolved significantly beyond their prior limitations. Whereas he had once been able to make only living beings into his vessels, he discovered he could now animate corpses using a shard of his soul, provided the body had not been dead for too long and was not too damaged. This ability allowed him to control fallen soldiers and maintain possession of Transcendent vessels even as they bled out, making his campaign more sustainable. Mordret's vessels inherit the powers of the original souls of their bodies, and through creating a reflection of the original soul, he could utilize a vessel's Aspect and steal its Memories. He also suspected that possessing a Hollow might fall within his powers, though he chose not to attempt it.[42]
Formation of Domain Mordret challenged the Great Terror, the Skinwalker, to a soul duel. In the dreadful darkness of the Skinwalker's profane soul, surrounded by the unfathomable expanse of Corruption, he fought the eldritch abomination tooth and nail. His own soul was mangled and poisoned, but he tore pieces of it out and continued to fight.[8]
Sovereignty Mordret became the seventh Sovereign born from humanity, and the third one to attain Supremacy without the help of the Nightmare Spell. However, his Domain was unlike those of the other six. Mordret had no Citadels, no territories, and no subjects. His reign was not founded on anything, and he ruled nothing, only himself.[8]
Nature of His Domain With his millions of vessels, Mordret was like a nation in and of himself — self-sufficient and self-reliant, depending on nobody, beholden to nothing. With no weaknesses the Dreamspawn could exploit.[8] |
True Self
Mordrets true self is fundamentally different from that of ordinary humans, rooted in a nature that makes him not entirely human and marks him as the dreaded "Other". While humans are composed of a soul, body, mind, spirit, shadow, and the spark of the Flame, Mordret possesses an additional, defining component: his existence is centered on a reflection. His soul, shadow, and spirit are merely expressions of this reflection, and he is first and foremost a reflection — a reflection of a human, but a reflection nevertheless. This reflection constitutes the true core of his being and is what persists even when his body and soul are destroyed, allowing him to refuse death when others would perish.[44]
It is this true self—the reflection—that acts directly in his abilities. It can enter a living being's soul, destroy it, and take control of the body, making his power uniquely invasive and dangerous. However, this also exposes his vulnerability: during soul duels, his true core enters a plane where it can be harmed, rendering him as mortal as anyone else in those moments. Despite attempts to destroy him, including the destruction of both his body and soul, his reflection endured.[44]
Flaw
Unnamed
In Chapter 1502, he mentioned that he did not bring his flaw with him inside the Third Nightmare.
Mordret's Flaw was described as something he "did not bring... into the Nightmare, because carrying something that dangerous around would have been foolish".[45] In Chapter 2481, Sunny then speculated that the Flaw might not have been an object but a person, possibly the CEO of the Valor Group (Refer to Mirage City Noir), implying that there could have been two versions of Mordret. He further suggested that the Flaw could have been Mordret's reflection, even questioning if the Mordret they knew was actually the reflection.[46]
According to Morgan, Mordret was split apart when he conquered the First Nightmare, with different versions of him inheriting different parts of his being. Only one version inherited his death, which was hidden somewhere else. Morgan revealed that she knew about her brother's Flaw and that Ki Song had discovered where it was hidden, but she was unaware of much about the Great Mirror or what lay beyond it.[47]
According to Other Mordret, his Flaw was not a simple division between two halves, but a complete shattering of his being into seven separate pieces. He explained that both he and his counterpart were real and revealed that his Flaw had shattered him into seven distinct selves, though now only two remained.[48]
In Chapter 2881, The other Mordret explained that his Flaw Flaw was that he and his other self were a shattered being, two parts of the same whole. Both were independent beings, yet it was in their nature to be pulled together in an attempt to become whole once more. He clarified that they were not truly separate individuals, but rather neither of them was a real person and that they were just parts of a person, both missing the other half. They shared not only the same Flaw, but also the same Aspect, as well as a kind of connection that bound them. This divided existence created an imbalance, where his existence weakened his other self, while his other self existence propelled him toward greater power, due to the difference in their rank.
- When the original Mordret was twelve and faced his First Nightmare, he gained his Aspect and his Flaw, which shattered him into seven pieces. Each shard inherited certain aspects of the original Mordret, but none were whole, and all were incomplete — missing parts they remembered but no longer possessed or were capable of. Instead of learning to live together and complement one another, one of the shards — the strongest, best suited to be a protector, but lacking compassion — chose to make himself whole by killing the others. That shard slew five of their number and absorbed them, regaining many of the original Mordret's parts and coming close to becoming a complete person again. Other Mordret survived only because he had inherited their death; if he died, all of them would die.[49]
Note: This is after the events in Chapters 2964-2965 in Mordret's Choice
Having finally absorbed the last shard of himself after decades spent shattered and incomplete, he became whole and human again, though burdened by memories of both his cruel, vengeful self from the Dream Realm and the meek, compassionate self shaped by the Great Mirror. Now able to truly feel guilt, regret, pain, and sorrow, Mordret realized that although he was no longer shattered, the scars of his Flaw would always remain like cracks in a repaired porcelain vase. As a result, he could never escape his Flaw, since his entire life had been shaped by it, leaving him to learn how to live as a flawed vessel.[11]
Soul
Note: These information is from after he attained Supreme Rank.
Mordret's soul is depicted as vast, fragmented, and spread across countless incarnations, to the point that a million incarnations of Mordret entered a million souls, allowing him to engage in numerous soul duels simultaneously. His soul operates within the liminal space of the soul arena, where he can only wield what his opponents wield, reflecting their Aspects and Memories but nothing more. Despite this limitation, his status as a Supreme makes him overwhelmingly powerful in these encounters. His mind and soul together resemble a great swarm built into a fortress with impregnable walls.[50]
However, his soul is not without vulnerability. Although his soul was branded with the mark of the Demon of Destiny (refer to the painful ritual he performed in Nether's tower mentioned in Chapter 1168 and the vague symbols on the surface of his soul core in Chapter 1499), granting him significant resistance, he is still not entirely immune to the Dreamspawn's influence. Exposure to Asterion's power leaves some residue like a layer of dust covering an immense mirror, suggesting subtle contamination that does not immediately control him but accumulates over time. This contamination worsens through proximity to enthralled individuals, repeated soul duels, and direct clashes with Asterion, causing his mind to become slowly and gradually more compromised.[50]
Domain
- Main article: Mirror Domain
With his millions of vessels, Mordret was like a nation in and of himself — self-sufficient and self-reliant, depending on nobody, beholden to nothing.[8] His consciousness governs these vessels as shards of his soul, binding them into a unified Domain.[43]
The newly whole Mordret (in essence is the other Mordret) mentioned that had no Domain during the Fifth Nightmare. His brother (former Mordret) had built himself a mighty Domain — millions of vessels carrying the fragments of his soul, all united under the banner of the King of Nothing. But all of them had either been destroyed in the war against the Dreamspawn or consumed in an attempt to conquer Apotheosis. This Mordret, however, had never destroyed a soul to take possession of someone else's body. He felt no desire to, and found the very idea distasteful. He had only ever created one Reflection — and left it behind in the real world, where it was desperately needed. There was no Citadel that he ruled, either. So, Mordret entered the Nightmare with nothing, and, as a result, he had experienced no unmaking. This was both a blessing and a curse: a blessing because he had not been destroyed by it, and a curse because he had not been changed by it.[51]
