Sunny

Mordret calls Sunless a friend[1] even though had tried to kill him on several occasions but somehow managed to survive.[2][3][4] Nevertheless, he was strangely fond of the prickly Shadow. To him, Sunless is an interesting fellow and a Divine Aspect holder, the same as himself.[5]

In Chapter 2230, there is a moment when his smile becomes a little forced upon hearing the name of the Lord of Shadows.

Cassie

“ Well, well, well. Look what the cat dragged in. Ah, if it isn't my favorite witch. Welcome to my Domain, Lady Cassia.. I must say, being covered in blood suits you really well... ”

― To Cassie,
Chapter 2798 Abandoned Throne

Mordret is wary of Cassie's potent divination powers that he performed a painful ritual in Nether's tower that was supposed to shield him from Cassia's gaze.[5] In the Twilight battle, Mordret's spirit was fueled by Cassie, who was not as simple as she appeared. He assumed that she had something planned and led her companions to their destination.[6]

“ You know... of all the people I've met, Cassia, you are the closest to becoming Supreme, and perhaps the most worthy. After all, you've been bending the world to your will ever since you were an inexperienced youth. ”

― To Cassie,
Chapter 2878 Shattered Beings

In Chapter 2878, Mordret regarded Cassia with a mixture of wariness, respect, and reluctant reliance. He perceived her as deeply involved in events beyond ordinary comprehension, noting that her Transcendent Ability allowed her to erase and manipulate memories, and he suspected her influence in the loss of memories among those who entered the Tomb of Ariel. He found her powerful and cunning, capable of predicting outcomes and offering assistance against the Dreamspawn, even though he was reluctant to fully trust her. Mordret recognized that she was "the closest to becoming Supreme" and "the most worthy" among those he had met, acknowledging her skill in bending the world to her will since youth. Yet, he also viewed her as incomplete, barely a person due to her missing memories, and believed she could not achieve Supremacy without external aid. Despite his suspicions and the danger she represented, he accepted her help, seeing her as the best shield against the Dreamspawn, and he was willing to cooperate with her to ensure his own survival, even if it required restraining his natural mistrust. He oscillated between fear, admiration, and cautious dependence, recognizing her as both a potential ally and a formidable, unpredictable force.

After becoming whole, the Mordret of the present maintained contact with only a few select people, one of them is Cassie.[7]

Nephis

Mordret stumbled upon Nephis who was beautiful, cold, and enigmatic in Chapter 1168. He was initially unsure of her as she seemed to be a valiant hero fully committed to defending the waking world from the terrors of the Nightmare Spell if not for the fact that she was actually a Dreamspawn, who were never what they seemed. Since she was adopted by his family, and he thought of killing her as well. He did not hate her but he believed that his father had plans for the last descendant of Immortal Flame, which could be beneficial in the future.[5]

Effie

In Chapter 1498, Effie managed to crack his usual mask of pleasant friendliness. By the end of the Siege of Bastion, she mocks him for being all show and no substance. She calls out his lack of courage, noting that in all their time facing Nightmare Creatures and fighting for survival, Mordret remained inactive in a perfectly safe prison cell. She also criticizes him for never initiating a soul duel with Morgan, despite receiving a direct and brazen invitation, implying that he avoids real risk and danger.[8]

Kai

In the Twilight battle, Mordret admired the precision of the Kai's archery for a split second, due to hitting a small, moving target.[9][10]

Rain

Mordret regarded Rain in a purely utilitarian and detached manner, stating explicitly that he was only keeping the girl alive for two reasons. The first was to use her as a hostage, in case he need to force Song of the Fallen to do something she doesn't want to do or deter her from doing something that he doesn't want her to do, noting that the witch knows to be on her best behavior unless she wants to see her little friend tortured, broken, and killed. The second reason was as insurance in case the Lord of Shadows does come back, since he believed that he'll take the death of his prized pupil poorly and that provoking such a reaction would be most problematic during the war with the Dreamspawn.[11]

After becoming whole, the Mordret of the present maintained contact with only a few select people, one of them is Rain.[7] and kept his promised to share his understanding of natural Transcendence with her.[12]

Family

Anvil

Anvil is the father of Mordret, who gave his son to Asterion as a hostage.[13] He one of the two Sovereigns he promised to kill.[14] Mordret is deeply obsessed with vengeance, particularly against his father, to a "demented degree", and expresses a twisted desire to personally kill him—going so far as to say he would be "incensed" and "very, very cross" if someone else robbed him of that pleasure.[8]

Morgan

Morgan was but a mere child when their family betrayed Mordret. She was also not been there when they destroyed his original body or caged like him like a beast. She was not among those he wanted to kill the most, but she was their symbol. She embodied everything he wanted to destroy.[15]

In Chapter 1201, despite being close to his goal, Mordret did not kill Morgan. He failed to kill her due to a gargantuan gate that opened in the sky.[16]

After becoming whole, the Mordret of the present maintained contact with only a few select people, one of them is Morgan.[7] and before she challenged the Fourth Nightmare he was seen as a reflection in water talking to her in Chapter 3034.

His Other Self

Reveal
Mordret viewed his other self with a mixture of contempt, superiority, and harsh judgment. He considered his reflection the real horror show between them, describing him as barely a human who lacked fundamental human emotions, including resentment, anger, hatred, pain, betrayal, and shame. He criticized his other self for being a friend to everyone, claiming that this made him loyal to no one, and dismissed his acts of kindness as a facade that concealed how crippled and inhuman he truly was. Mordret believed that people projected their own image onto the mirrored self, mistaking his emptiness for niceness, and he mocked the sympathy it received. While acknowledging his other self's caution and warnings about the impossibility of defeating the Dreamspawn, Mordret saw him as incapable of understanding the drive and exhilaration he felt waging absolute war, and he viewed him as pathetic and unable to comprehend the bloodline of war inherited from their father and grandfather.[11]

In Chapter 2965, the corrupted Mordret forced his other self to kill him and in Chapter 2988, Mordret became whole again. (Refer to Mordret's Desperate Gamble)

Enemies

Valor Clan

The great clan Valor destroyed Mordret's body, birthright, and Reflections. He also had been kept in an empty mausoleum for six years. He wants to destroy his former clan.[17]

Asterion

Mordret called him an abomination, the one who had taken him hostage as a child.[18] Due to this, he is one of the two sovereigns he promised to kill.[14]

In Chapter 2815, he acknowledged Asterion's presence by referring to him as "teacher" and observing the Dreamspawn with a sense of familiarity, even while preparing to confront him. Mordret demonstrated awareness of Asterion's strategic intelligence and the psychological weight of his actions, understanding that Asterion's intervention on the battlefield, prompted by Kai, was deliberate and intended to challenge and "break" those loyal to Changing Star. Despite the implicit threat, Mordret maintained a composed and mocking demeanor, highlighting both respect for Asterion's power and confidence in his own abilities as he mirrored Asterion's form.[19]

Mordret viewed the Dreamspawn as an immensely dangerous and central threat, referring to him as that man and explicitly acknowledging him as his maker, stating that he was to face his maker in the coming battle. He declared that the Dreamspawn will be broken and defeated, sealed in some hellhole he will never be able to escape, showing his determination to overcome him. Mordret further recognized a critical limitation, admitting that the Dreamspawn cannot be destroyed as long as people remember him, which shaped his approach to the war. Ultimately, he framed the conflict as a decisive confrontation with his maker, understanding that he would have to hold nothing back in order to have any hope of winning.[11]
