Forsaken Knight was the guardian of the Ruined Cathedral in the Dark City.[3]

Description

The creature was more than two meters tall, its gothic armor forged from a lusterless, anthracite steel. Every part of the armor was decorated with intricate engravings that told a tale so horrifying that anyone would go insane from looking at them for too long. The helmet of the Black Knight was crowned with curved horns that might have been the wings once. In the narrow fissure of his visor, two ghastly red flames were burning with indescribable menace.[4]

Ability

The Black Knight was a strong, fast, and indestructible creature, as one imagined a Fallen Devil would be. His astonishing might was attributed to the darkness in the cathedral's grand hall, which seemed to obey him. When wrapped in this darkness, he could move fast, unseen, and with no sound. His physical traits were also enhanced, making him an unstoppable slaughter engine. Any damage done to him was instantly repaired as long as he was surrounded by the darkness, which made him basically immortal.[5]

History

In the ruined cathedral of the Dark City, Stone Saint challenged the Black Knight to a battle. With the two creatures finally facing each other, a mysterious connection between the two of them became even more apparent. Despite the fact that the Black Knight towered above Stone Saint, their general appearance and the design of their armaments were eerily similar.[6]

It was just that in front of the intricate stonelike armor of the Shadow, the devil's own formidable full plate, which had been masterfully forged from indestructible black steel, seemed almost crude. Facing the original masterpiece, he looked like a clumsy imposter.[6]

The battle ended with the Shadow grasping a strange, beautiful, and ominous gem in her fist. It was utterly black, as though suffused with impenetrable darkness. Deep within that black void, crimson flames burned with a menacing red glow that was pulsating in a slow and bizarre rhythm.[7]

The gem looked sort of like a soul shard, but different. It was radiating an intense glow and seemed like a whole soul. The crimson flames burning in the depths of the black gem had four flames for the four cores of Fallen Devil. The thing that the Shadow held in her hand was the Black Knight's soul or some sort of his essence, at least.[7]

Trivia

  • The knight managed to sneak up to Sunny due to the True Darkness covering a large part of the grand hall of Ruined Cathedral.[3]
  • In Chapter 180, Sunny had a flash back on his first meeting with the Black Knight, how he was disemboweled by him and nearly died in a ditch somewhere in the depths of the Dark City.
    • Sunny dreamt of the ditch that he had crawled into after being gutted by the Forsaken Knight, and of cold, overflowing darkness.[8]
  • The knight does not go beyond the doorway of the cathedral.[2]
