Jake Thayne is the main protagonist of The Primal Hunter. Following Earth's integration into the multiverse and the System, Jake quickly distinguished himself as an outlier among humanity due to his rare bloodline and exceptional strength as a combatant. Gifted with the Bloodline of the Primal Hunter, he begins his journey with an innate affinity for hunting, survival, and ranged combat, particularly archery, a skill in which he already excelled prior to the System's arrival.
During the Tutorial, Jake stumbles upon a challenge dungeon. This fortuitous discovery leads to an unexpected friendship due to a fateful encounter with The Malefic Viper, a Primordial , one of the oldest and most powerful gods in the multiverse. Unlike most who would tremble before such a being, Jake’s Bloodline of the Primal Hunter allowed him to see the Viper not as an untouchable god, but as an equal. This rare dynamic laid the foundation for a genuine bond, one built on mutual respect rather than worship. The Malefic Viper becomes both a mentor and ally, mentoring Jake in the profession of alchemy, and supporting Jake as he forges his own Path. Jake's relationship to the Viper inevitably draws him deeper into the political arena and causes rivalries both within the Order of the Malefic Viper and throughout the larger multiverse.
Jake currently holds the title of City Owner of Haven, a powerful and rapidly developing city within humanities territory on Earth. While Jake is nominally owner, day-to-day governance is handled by Miranda, the appointed City Lord, allowing Jake the freedom to continue pursuing his Path without being burdened by administrative duties. Satisfied with Miranda's efforts, Jake repeats this structure when he is later elected world leader of Earth.
An often solitary hunter by nature but increasingly a key figure in multiversal events, Jake's Path reflects a Human who is driven by instinct, ambition, and the ever-present drive to hunt.
Appearance
Pre-System
Jake considered himself rather average in the looks department. He wasn't too fat or too slim. He had short brown hair, brown eyes, and a face that wouldn't be described as particularly handsome or ugly. However, he had an above-average physique, stemming from his continued practice of archery in his free time. Coupled with his gym membership, he maintained a healthy lifestyle.[1]
Post-Tutorial
Jake's appearance remains largely unchanged, except for ironing out his existing features during evolution in grades. However, after selecting Gaze of the Apex Predator, Jake's eyes turn a glowing bestial yellow, letting anyone know at a glance that he has an optical skill.
After his duel with the Sword Saint during the Book 5 system event, Jake has a small scar located on the side of his neck that he choses to not heal as "a reminder of this one time an old man nearly cut my head off. It was a good time, and I am looking forward to when a rematch feels right."[2]

It has been confimed that the Prima Guardian Event lasted the full duration by Zogarth:
Personality
The affect of Jake's Bloodline was apparent from an early age and showed in competitive behavior. He subconsciously learned to dull his Presence because it caused his brother to fear him. He has disdain for authority and his attitude towards teachers and other authority figures led to Caleb having to "save his ass". Caleb often acted as his bridge with family and in social situations, taking care of his older brother subtly, without causing Jake to be embarrassed.
Jake is introverted and prefers to keep to himself. He has been offered loner and hermit classes on multiple occasions due to how much time he spends alone. He doesn't care for socializing and generally wears his mask when in large groups to alleviate the feeling that everyone is staring at and silently judging him. After Villy strong arms him into teaching a course to a select group of D-grades, Jake is so drained that Villy worries that teaching is a significant Record drain for Jake. However, given that Jake recovers fully after a lengthy nap, the Viper realizes that he was just mentally exhausted from extended socialization.
Early in the series, Jake has trust issues stemming from his girlfriend cheating with his close friend Andrew. Several outbursts make Jake realize that betrayal and failure to listen to his own instincts are huge triggers for him and cause him to massively lash out. Jake eventually overcame his bloodline-influenced instinct to respond with violence.
Jake's life before the Tutorial had a 'gray aura,' which was a visualization of the apathy and boredom Jake had during those times. Jake later reflects upon his pre-system life multiple times, acknowledging that he was essentially depressed. Having a life and death battle with three humans above his level in the Tutorial reawakened Jake's Bloodline. Later, Jake is asked what is his fondest memory, and he reflects that after the reawakening of his bloodline, life was colorful again.
Jake has quirks, like all people. He has an almost irrational hate for anything fungi and has even created a nemesis for himself -- Mushrooms. He has repeatedly, mostly in dungeons, faced mushrooms and mushroom-themed monsters. Jake is a hero for his crusade to eliminate the evil fungi.
