The human race is known as the most balanced and numerous race in the multiverse, being able to walk many different roads on their Path to power.

—The System, to Jake Thayne

Among the Enlightened Races, Humans are the most diverse race in the multiverse being able to become nearly anything. Their stat gains are equally spread and the race itself provides nearly no skills. D-Grade is the highest grade that their race can be born at even if the parents are in S-Grade. Humanity is the most numerous race by far, present in all universes before their integrations and often dominant even before the system’s arrival. When speaking of the enlightened races, humans are often the first that springs to mind. Quite naturally so, as humans do exemplify that description.

Human – as a race – is by far the most diverse of the multiverse. Instead, humans have the inherent ability to possess both a class and a profession. One could even call this their true racial skill. While this isn’t unique in any way, it is usual for their race not to influence their path to power significantly.

Humanity has a great ability to reproduce, mainly due to the inherent limitations of their newborn. The highest grade a human can be born at and grow naturally to is D-grade, though their D-grade level varies. This limit can be somewhat circumvented by crossbreeding with more powerful races, creating hybrids, but will also result in the child not having the pure human race.

Many subraces of humans exist, often related to certain magic affinities or through certain transformations. The first will often only result in some race skills and different stat gains, while the latter can lose either class or profession, though they are often a fusion of the two.

System Race Description

Race descriptions Jake received during Race Evolutions:

Human (G) – The lowest level of humans in the system. This type is found only in newly initiated worlds. With this evolution, you will pick a small part of that future Path as you specialize further. Stat bonuses: +18 to all stats, +45 Free Points per level.

Human (B) – One step at a time, you keep stepping up on the evolutionary ladder, finding yourself worthy of standing amongst the myriad races who once seemed so far away. The human race is known as the most balanced and numerous races in the multiverse, being able to walk many different roads on their Path to power. You have shown yourself to stand on the extreme side in this regard, reaching a level few of your race ever accomplish. With this evolution, you shall further specialize, embracing aspects of the Human Spirit that best fit you, as it helps strengthen and guide your Path. Stat bonuses: +54 to all stats, +135 Free points per level.

Human Variants

Human variants are generally very rare as humans are innately extremely versatile as a race. The human race supports most Paths and regular skills. Having a variant human race isn't inherently better than being a "standard" human. A variant will be granted the exact same stats as a standard human.[1] The biggest change with the variant human races tended to be found with what race skill is granted upon evolution. Usually, the skill isn’t necessarily better, but rather more specialized. Race variations have very little impact on one’s Path compared to classes and professions, and are more of an expression of one’s existing Path than a change in it.

Race Skills

E-Grade Evolution

Gained from becoming an E-grade human.

[Meditate (Common)] – Enter a state of meditation, cutting off the outside world. While in meditation, regenerate stamina and mana significantly faster. While meditating, no other actions can be taken, and your perception of the external world is reduced immensely.

D-Grade Evolution

Gained from becoming an D-grade human.

[Legacy of Man (Unique)] – The human race has been around since the very first Era, and has stood on the pinnacle from the beginning. This is not simply due to extraordinary individuals in your midst, but your ability to stand on the shoulders of your ancestors and pass down Records. While each human’s lifespan may be short, your race’s collective knowledge is perennial, and through generations, humanity will prevail. Allows you to far more effectively pass down Records and makes anyone you teach far more likely to unlock new paths.

C-Grade Evolution

Gained from becoming an C-grade human.

As you walk on the road paved by your predecessors, you learn from the experiences of old. You view the Paths of those before you, and in turn, they bless you with their power. In return, they can only hope you will continue the tradition of passing down knowledge. Ten Paths appear before you, all paved and proven. Take inspiration, and choose one that fits you to embrace the Records within.

Humans are given the choice of 10 different paths these being:

  • Path of the Gatherer – Permanently increases Wisdom, Perception, and Agility by 10%. Grants the [Wisdom of the Gatherer (Unique)] skill. Upon selecting this Path, you will instantly gain a one-time bonus to the Wisdom, Perception, and Agility stats.
  • Path of the Warrior - Permanently increases Strength, Toughness, and Endurance by 10%.
  • Path of the Creator - Permanently increases Wisdom, Perception, and Willpower by 10%.
  • Path of the Ruler - Permanently increases Wisdom, Willpower, and Intelligence by 10%.
  • Path of the Hermit – Permanently enhances Willpower, Agility, and Vitality by 10%.
  • Path of the Outcast - Permanently increases Vitality, Agility, and Intelligence by 10%.
  • Path of the Faithful – Permanently increases Wisdom, Vitality, and Intelligence by 10%.
  • Path of the Indomitable – Permanently increases Vitality, Willpower, and Toughness by 10%.
  • Path of the Slayer – Permanently increases Strength, Agility, and Intelligence by 10%.
  • Path of the Hunter – Permanently increases Perception, Agility, and Endurance by 10%. Grants the [Wisdom of the Hunter (Unique)] skill. Upon selecting this Path, you will instantly gain a one-time bonus to the Perception, Agility, and Endurance stats.

Jake Thayne selected the Path of the Hunter so he received the skill:

[Wisdom of the Hunter (Unique)] – You walk the Path of a hunter, a pillar of any community and one of the few who dare pressing into hostile territory to hunt. Rather than stay and improve the safe settlements of humanity, you seek more power through the act of killing your foes and claiming all the bounty that comes with it. A potent yet risky Path. +10% Perception, +10% Agility, +10% Endurance. Increases all experience gained from slaying foes. Increases alignment with all classes or professions related to the Path of a hunter. Allows you to more easily pass on Records related to your Path as a Hunter.

B-Grade Evolution

Gained from becoming an B-grade human.

Spirit of Man

Through the eras, humanity has always prevailed, in no small part due to its profound Legacy and heritage. Records run deep within all humans, and now, you have been given the chance to tap into these Records and take inspiration from all those who’ve come before you, embracing aspects of their spirit.

Your spirit.

The Human Spirit.

Ten aspects of the Human Spirit are presented to you. Choose to embody two of them, signifying the variety of humanity’s power and potential, and embrace the power found within the eternal spirit that dwells deep within.

There are at least a hundred commonly known Spirit of Man variety skills to choose from, with all of them varying in how good they were.

Jake Thayne is initially interest in:

[Hunter’s Collaborative Spirit of Man (Unique)] – The human spirit is one of collaboration and improving alongside one another to create the tool of your ace. You embody this aspect. Reduces experience penalty while hunting alongside other enlightened races. This effect is even stronger when hunting with your fellow humans. Grants slight damage resistance against opponents when fighting alongside other enlightened races. This effect is even stronger when hunting with your fellow humans. As you progress deeper onto your Path, your growth reflects it, and your body adapts: +15 to Perception, Agility, and Strength per level in your race. This effect works retroactively (+10 Perception, Agility, and Strength per level in C-grade, +5 Perception, Agility, and Strength per level in all prior grades). Go forward, hunter of humanity, and prove the Spirit of Man.

[Hunter’s Brave Spirit of Man (Unique)] – The human spirit is one of braving danger and facing the impossible. You embody this aspect. Increases experience gain when slaying opponents higher level than yourself. This effect is even stronger when hunting with your fellow humans. Grants slight damage resistance against opponents higher level than yourself.

[Alchemical Spirit of Man (Unique)] – The human spirit is one of creation, the alchemical arts being no exception. You embody this aspect. Increases experience gain when performing profession-related activities. This effect is even stronger when working collaboratively with your fellow humans. Grants slight resistance to some toxins and negative environmental effects found in alchemical travels. As you progress deeper onto your Path, your growth reflects it, and your body adapts: +15 to Wisdom, Intelligence, and Willpower per level in your race. This effect works retroactively (+10 Wisdom, Intelligence, and Willpower per level in C-grade, +5 Wisdom, Intelligence, and Willpower per level in all prior grades). Go forward, alchemist of humanity, and prove the Spirit of Man.

However, when he attempted to select his skills, they were combined and transformed by his Bloodline of the Primal Hunter into [Primal Hunter’s Spirit of Man (Unique)]

Trivia

  • According to Jake, people like Adam who were conceived pre-system integration but born post-integration do not have the normal human maximum natural grade of D-grade but rather will max out at F-grade, Level 10 around adolescence if they don't train. At level 10, they will gain access to classes and professions.[2]
