Upon the integration of a new universe into the System, all members of the enlightened races are removed from their home planets and inserted into system tutorials designed to prepare them for life in the multiverse. These tutorials are created by the System with input from various gods and other powers, creating pathways for the new denizens to gain and raise class levels and potentially learn professions in order to introduce them to the system.

Prior to the tutorial, participants are given a brief introduction to how their new universe will function and allow to select a class. They are then transitioned to the tutorial which is an extended opportunity to raise the race level from G-grade 0-9 to F-grade 10-24 so that they are more likely to survive upon returning to their home planet. There are a variety of tutorial types. While various degrees of difficulty and danger exist in the tutorials for adults, children have special tutorials with no danger and in which they are guaranteed to reach F-grade by the conclusion of the tutorial.

In these Tutorials, the participants are competing against each other or working together to earn Tutorial Points (TP). At the end of the Tutorial, the points can be used to buy Items and Skills from the Tutorial Store. Any Tutorial Points that are not used for Tutorial Store purchase are automatically converted into System Credits.

—Initiation of the 93rd Universe

With the initiation of the 93rd Universe, all members of the Enlightened races were taken to separate introduction spaces. Jake described the introduction room as well-lit room with perfectly clean white walls and floor, containing two white chairs and a white table. Seated at the table, across from the participant, was a bald humanoid with completely white eyes and no discernible features.

Introduction starting marks the point from which people can access The System. As a previously uninitiated individual, they are each classified as G-grade, level 0. During the introduction, they are prompted to choose a starting Class.[1]

Survival Tutorial

Jake's Tutorial is Survival Type. In this type of Tutorial, it is free for all, requiring participants to survive both the onslaught of beasts and their fellow survivors. Like other tutorials, Survival Tutorials contain Random Treasure Chests and Challenge Dungeons designed by the Gods. At the very center of the tutorial is a restricted, bounded Inner Area, which blocks entry by anyone lacking sufficient levels to have even a moderate chance of surviving. This restricted area contains higher level Beasts and as well as an optional mission against the four Beast Lords and the King of the Forest.

Jake's tutorial was inspired by the records of Karroch[2].

Trials Type Tutorial

Unlike Jake's Survival type, Miranda's Tutorial consisted of weekly Trials. It is the most common type of the tutorial and most people got funneled into them. It can be said that Survival Type Tutorial are rare in comparison to Trials type Tutorial.

Development Type Tutorial

This tutorial is reserved for small children too young to access the system and the caretakers who cared for them during the tutorial period. Of the 5,700 participants in one particular development tutorial, nearly half were below the age of one. The other half were parents or people who'd worked in childcare or healthcare pre-system integration. Nearly 90% had selected Healer as their starter class.[3]

Sponsors

System requirements from sponsors varies wildly. Some potential sponsors receive a system quest while others have to actively pursue the opportunity. Even non-gods can sponsor a tutorial.[2] Some may attempt to sponsor as early as late C- or in B-grade, exchanging their Legacy for benefits and posterity.

Trivia

  • The average final tutorial boss for Earth tutorials was a level 102 monster or weak beast variant. The King of the Forest clocked in as a level 130+ unique lifeform.[2]
  • The Great White Stag that Jake fought as one of the four beast lords was the echo of a B-grade beast Karroch once tamed. The boar and the badger were echoes of D-grade creatures.[2]
  • The odd birds that Jake noticed throughout the tutorial were placed by Karroch as part of a surveillance network.[2]
  • In Jake's tutorial, it's mentioned that Healers are exceedingly rare with only 3 of the 1200 participants specifically being referred to as Healers. In the side story about the tutorial for infants, it's stated that half of the 5,700 participants were adult caretakers and that of that half (2,850) , over 90% had selected Healer as their starter class.[3] It can be deduced that the reason Healers are so rare in the adult tutorials is because they have been funneled heavily into the tutorials for tender-aged children.
