Artemis is a Wood Elf Goddess from the Pantheon of Life whose path centers on hunting and archery. She also wields nature magic and is a perception-based fighter.
Prior to ascending to godhood, she held the True Blessing of Yggdrasil. Artemis notably spent a great deal of time at the 9th level of divinity, struggling to reach the next stage, before finally evolving to Godqueen with the help of an elixir from the Malefic Viper, sent as part of a gift package during Jake's diplomatic visit to the Pantheon of life.
While returning to the Order from the Pantheon, Jake's group was ambushed by unknown assailants. Artemis fought to protect Jake and his friends from several other gods who were far more powerful than the goddess. Her efforts gave Jake time to craft a plan that eventually led to their rescue.
At present, Artemis resides within the Order of the Malefic Viper, serving as the Pantheon of Life’s official divine diplomat to the Order.
Appearance
Artemis is very attractive with sharp green eyes, long hair, and traditional elven ears.
In her appearance in the Colosseum of Mortals, Jake described her as giving off "those traditional wood-elf-fantasy-vibes".[1] She wore a hooded dark green cloak, wielded two swords and a bow, and had a distinct smell of nature around her. She has long hair and her face bears tribal markings.
Personality
Artemis initially comes across as reserved. Having grown up on an integrated world, she is always deeply respectful in the presence of prominent figures such as Yggdrasil and The Malefic Viper. However, being around Jake brings out a more playful side. She is feisty and playful with Jake and also shows a fierce loyalty toward him.
Story Summary
The image of Artemis
The first appearance of Artemis in the series is not the actual goddess, but rather an image of her housed in the Colosseum of Mortals arena challenge. The Lord of the Hunt was an Image of Artemis created by the Wyrmgod to play the role of a Champion in this specific challenge dungeon. She was one of a number of gods who'd volunteered their Level 0 images for challengers to face including: the Phoenix Queen, the Mistress of Shadows, the Necromancer, and, ultimately, the Warrior.
After Jake defeated her Image in their Champion match, Artemis invited Jake over to her place. The two would often get together in the down time between Jake's matches. Artemis, with her memories of godhood now restored, would teach him more about archery, explain the base concept of her stealth skill (which he later refine into his new stealth skill), and it is implied they were intimate.
The goddess, Artemis
According to the contract that the Wyrmgod makes with the volunteer gods, their images are allowed to recover their full memories once they are defeated and the Wyrmgod is obligated to send recordings of a respective god's image during their performance in the challenge dungeon.
After she recovered her memories as a god, Artemis's image pursued Jake semi-romantically, attracted to his path and aura as a superior Hunter Archetype. She also obliged the Wyrmgod to send a recording of her fight against Jake as well as a personal message to her true body outside.
Having received her Image's message and grown intrigued, Artemis set out to Nevermore to personally observe Jake's progress through the super dungeon. Wary of approaching a Primordial's territory despite not being even at the godqueen level herself, she requested Nature's Attendant to accompany her since he was a high-ranking and powerful god in the Pantheon of Life, second only to Yggdrasil herself, and happened to have a granddaughter competing on the leaderboards. This turned out to be a wise decision as she was far from the only god and not even close to the most powerful god drawn to Nevermore by Jake's performance.

Jake Thayne
| “ | There have been many who have shown interest in Artemis, even amongst the gods, but she doesn’t even bat an eye at them. It has even gotten to the point where some swear she is sworn to celibacy or maidenhood or something to make themselves feel better about being rejected. Needless to say, I don’t believe she is that closed off to having partners… Her standards are just rather abnormal and through the roof.

Many have expressed interest in Artemis, but she had long developed a reputation for being very particular with exacting expectations of her partner. Jake appears to meet her expectations.
After defeating her image in combat, Jake and the image of Artemis began a "physical relationship" and grew closer. The image encouraged Jake to reach out to the true Artemis and likewise encouraged the goddess to reach out to Jake. The true Artemis first met Jake at the Nevermore viewing party hosted by the Wyrmgod, attended by several Primordials. Accompanied by Nature’s Attendant, Artemis was invited due to her connection with Jake, despite not yet having reached the level of Godqueen. During this event, Jake shielded her when his aura clashed with Valdemar’s. The ability to withstand the aura of the War god made Jake all the more intriguing.
Following his triumphant return from Nevermore and his defeat of Ell'Hakan, Jake was sent on a diplomatic mission to the Pantheon of Life by The Malefic Viper. Wanting to encourage Artemis’ budding relationship with Jake, Yggdrasil and Nature’s Attendant, assigned Artemis as the visiting group's liaison. Their plan succeeded, as Jake and Artemis developed a serious relationship and openly declared their intentions to one another. The Pantheon and the Order also issued a Declaration of Friendship, announcing to the multiverse that the two factions were on good terms.
On a more personal level, Jake and Artemis took the time to define their relationship.[2] Artemis initially express that she does not expect Jake to be exclusive to her, given the unique dynamic between gods and mortals, but she demanded the right to birth Jake’s firstborn child. From a monogamous culture, Jake was a bit taken aback. However, after a brief discussion with the Viper to understand multiversal relationships, it became clear that Artemis was merely attempting to allow Jake his freedom given his comparative youth and that it was doubtful that she planned to take any other partner.
Due to her close relationship with Jake, The Malefic Viper gifted Artemis a unique Transcendent level alchemical substance that allowed her to break through from a Ninth Circle god to a true Godqueen.

| “ | From my point of view, your most extraordinary trait is your ability to attract Jake, and if not for that, you would just be another god not worthy of consideration. So yes, I do genuinely view [Jake] as a friend, and by extension, I’ll acknowledge you.

The Viper is admittedly not particularly interested in Artemis as an individual. However, he is deeply invested in Jake as his best friend and his Chosen. To this extent, he gifted Artemis with a Transcendent-level elixir to help her breakthrough to Godqueen. The extreme value of the gift signaled his acceptance of her relationship with Jake.[3] Not long after Jake and Artemis mutually agree that they are in a romantic relationship, the Viper gives Artemis a proverbial "shovel talk", saying that he considers himself Jake's "older and wiser friend who's watching out for [Jake] in case bad actors try to take advantage."[4]
Despite his personal apathy towards Artemis, he attempts to make her feel comfortable around him because he believes "it would be a darn shame if the two most important people in Jake’s life didn’t get along.”[4] Over time, Artemis does grow more at ease in the Viper's presence, able to joke around and relax.
Artemis is currently serving as the Ambassador from the Pantheon of Life at the Order of the Malefic Viper.
