Demon of Oblivion is one of the seven daemons whose name was long forgotten.[3]

Background

The connection between Weaver and Oblivion is unclear, and it is speculated that it may be related to the unusual incongruity in the number of daemons that participated in the Doom War.[4]

Trivia

  • The Demon of Oblivion is difficult to remember. Aside from the fact that Oblivion was mentioned the least of all the seven daemons, their existence itself was not easy to remember. Sunny would not have known of their existence without Noctis, who mentioned their name in passing.[1]
Noctis, who helped the Sun Prince erase memories, was close to Aidre, the blessed of Heart God, who was also the god of memory. That might be why he can remember the Demon of Oblivion. Shadow God, by coincidence, was the god of solace.[1]
  • In Chapter 1237, it is peculiar that the description of Key of the Estuary bore the words "[The answer is oblivion.]".
Oblivion was a message Cassie had left to herself, and the word rang in her head with countless meanings, being the reason why Nephis and Sunny left and the source of everything that happened since the beginning of Volume 11, as well as why the Human Domain had fallen while its rulers were absent.[5]
  • In Chapter 1327, Ananke mentioned that Demon of Oblivion is a she.
  • The one who was buried at the heart of Ariel's Tomb was Oblivion.[6]
The sarcophagus was nestled between the roots of an ancient tree. There were no runes or carvings, and no mark left to remember who was buried.[6]
  • Oblivion is identified as "the answer to the simplest of questions: who was buried in the Tomb of Ariel?" The answer was Oblivion, the Demon of Oblivion, who could hardly be remembered by the world, and who had been entombed in the great pyramid after dying a lonesome death, both her passing and her burial forgotten. No one knew how she had died and where her final resting place was except for Weaver, as well as the Mad Prince and Sunny.[7]
In a broader sense, the great tomb had been built by Ariel to help him forget the unbearable truths he wanted to be free of, reinforcing oblivion as an act of forgetting. On a personal level, the Mad Prince used the phrase "The answer is oblivion" to describe the Key of the Estuary because he sought freedom from the Defilement and the Sin of Solace, which forced him to remember the same forbidden knowledge in every loop. In the end, the true key to his liberation was oblivion, meaning the erasure of memory that allowed him to silence the apparition and escape the paradox that bound him within the Tomb of Ariel.[7]
  • In the description of [The Weave] in Chapter 3106, suggested that it was Oblivion who first broached the idea of changing fate. During her conversation with the Demon of Fate, she rejected the notion that fate was absolutely immutable and proposed that fate itself would eventually produce a contradiction capable of undoing it. According to Oblivion, because the ever-changing Void had eventually given birth to the unchangeable Flame of Desire, fate, by encompassing every possible event and outcome, would likewise give birth to something that it could neither encompass nor govern. She identified the creation of such a paradox as the means by which fate could be changed.[8]
  • War stated that the saving grace of existence for the gods is "oblivion" in Chapter 3183.
