“ You're almost gone, aren't you? Torment... my poor partner. We've been together in this for so long, you and I. But now it seems that I have spent you completely. You'll never leave this tomb. You have been buried here, forever. It serves you right, for what you did to me... oh, but don't fret. Once I'm outside, I will remember you fondly. ” ― Mad Prince to Torment,
Chapter 2833 Fuel for Her Darkness
Mad Prince was one of the Six Plagues or Heralds of the Estuary.[1]

Appearance
Debut
The Mad Prince looked human, or at least human-shaped. His clothes are tattered, and his face was a mass of scars, which look to have been inflicted by his own nails. He was said to wear a tarnished crown.[1]
In Sunny's dream, the Mad Prince showed dressed in tattered rags, appeared human-like, with dirty hair hanging like seaweeds obscuring his face and a jagged band of dark metal resting on his head like a tarnished crown.[3]
Manifestation
The Mad Prince was a Corrupted Titan that wore a human face and possessed dark, frightening eyes that sometimes showed a distant hint of lucidity. He spoke in a hoarse voice with undertones of a rabid growl and displayed erratic behavior, including a demented laugh and moments of violent self-harm where he clawed at his face until blood spilled, only for the blood to reverse and return under his skin.[4]
He carried the cursed jade sword known as the Sin of Solace, which was described as a blade that infected everyone it cut with insidious madness.[4]
Personality
“ It's hard to describe. I've met abominations who could talk like humans before, but never one who seemed so... human-like. Even among the Defiled. In any case, it looked like he was not happy about being the Dread Lord's slave. Or liked what the Dread Lord has done after becoming the tyrant of Verge. ” ― Wind Flower to Sunless,
Chapter 1453 The Other Guest
He was a raving lunatic who seems to be as murderous as he was tormented by his own madness. He appeared to be pitiful at first glance but hid a vile and hateful monster beneath. He finds joy in tormenting his victims, then grows indifferent to their pain the next moment.[1]
According to Wind Flower, the Mad Prince was haunted by his version of the Sin of Solace's wraith. He was more insane than most but was also surprisingly lucid, for a Nightmare Creature.[5]
He possessed a demented and unstable demeanor, emitting a grating, unhinged laugh—though it was difficult to tell whether it was laughter or a sob—and clawing at his own face, leaving new scars.[6]
In Chapter 2986, when he was informed that Asterion had harmed Nephis and sought to ruin what he had achieved, the Mad Prince's demeanor shifted into intense obsession. He declared that Nephis is his with demented, dire conviction, and his presence expanded until it felt like a physical force that affected the environment, causing shadows to move in demented frenzy.
Ability
His powers were that of a sword saint, but his swordsmanship is violent and utterly chaotic, yet cruel and savagely lethal.[1]
The most terrifying thing about him was that he can spread his madness like a disease. The Mad Prince's Rank and Class was hard to tell but Ananke mentioned that he is of the Corrupted Rank and a Titan.[1]
According to Cassie, the Mad Prince is ancient beyond belief, and powerful beyond measure, who wields the cursed sword Sin of Solace with the profane skill of a sword saint. He is summoned by Cassie because he is the most terrifying Corrupted creature she can think of and because he flawlessly countered Asterion's most fearsome powers.[7]
Asterion's primary ability is mind manipulation, but the Mad Prince's mind is already twisted beyond description. He is completely and utterly deranged, which makes him extremely difficult to manipulate in a predictable way. His thoughts also contain chilling horrors that even Asterion must be cautious of when attempting to read them.[7]
The Mad Prince wields the Sin of Solace, a cursed sword created to poison minds. Because Asterion's true form is that of an idea, he is especially vulnerable to this weapon. Even a small cut inflicted by the blade is as lethal as a fatal wound, since it poisons the victim’s mind regardless of injury depth. Due to this threat, Asterion cannot ignore the Mad Prince’s attacks or fully use most of his Sovereign-level power. Instead, he is denied his Aspect and forced to fight the berserk Corrupted Titan as no more than an immensely strong Supreme Beast.[7]
During the battle in the Ebony Tower, the Mad Prince fought with terrifying ferocity, enough that the obsidian walls groaned and shook while cracks spread across the hall and ceiling. He attacked Asterion with impossible speed, slicing reality apart with the white blade of the Sin of Solace while aiming not to kill him outright, but merely to land a cut. When Asterion countered, the Mad Prince transformed into a torrent of shadows, after which seven abominable Titans assaulted Asterion from all sides, though only one carried the graceful white blade.[7]
Background
The Mad Prince came to Aletheia's Island to lure the other two Defiled, Undying Slaughter and Devouring Beast into a trap. It looked like he was not happy about being the Dread Lord's slave or liked what the Dread Lord had done after becoming the tyrant of Verge.[5]
There was an internal strife between the Six Plagues that seemed enough for the Mad Prince to try eliminating two of his fellow Defiled champions, potentially helping them conquer the Nightmare.[5]
Trivia
- In Chapter 1314, Mad Prince called Sunny a "Murderer".
- The black mantle donned by the priestess of Nightmare Spell is eerily similar to the tattered rags that the Mad Prince wore.[8]
- From what Sunny knew the Mad Prince was the only one of the Defiled champions who had traveled into the far reaches of the future.[9]
- The Sin of Solace was the reason Sunny had become the Mad Prince and was also the reason why the Mad Prince had managed to preserve a shred of lucidity. Keeping him forever torn between two mutually exclusive states.[10]
- The Mad Prince had become a Titan by slaughtering his Shadows to form his seventh core.[11]
- The Mad Prince's bizarre actions and unfathomable schemes led to countless lives being destroyed and had the Nightmare reshaped to his will. Sunny suspected his motivation was to redeem the sin of killing Nephis and bring her back to life.[12]
- It was revealed in Chapter 2833 that he had attempted to escape but had been stopped by "the shadow", his future self, who had thrown him out, although he believed that the shadow's existence proved he would succeed one day and escape.
