Soul Serpent

An intricate image of a black serpent coiled around his arms and his torso, its tail resting just above his right hand, its head just above his left. The serpent almost seemed to move under his skin, two curved fangs threatening to break its surface. It was striking, beautiful, and disturbing. It was the Shadow God's mark.^[6]

Weapon form (default): A menacing, formidable, foreboding black-bladed odachi. Including the hilt, the odachi was as long as he was tall. It was surprisingly light for its length, but heavy enough to inflict truly devastating wounds. Almost invisible on the dark steel, a lifelike image of a coiling serpent was etched into its blade.^[6]

Due to its ability [Serpentine Steel], Serpent's Soul Weapon form can assume the shape of any weapon.^[1] The Serpent could take any form, but was limited by Sunny's knowledge. The better he knew a weapon, the better he could imagine it, to the smallest of details, the greater the result would be.^[7]

Due to its attribute [Soul Beast], Soul Serpent can assume the form of a beast.^[1]

A giant snake with jet-black scales, at least six meters in length, its body is as wide as a large man's arm and strong enough to crush granite into dust. Opening its maw, revealed long, terrifying onyx fangs. The serpent's eyes were as black as its mighty body and shone with dark radiance, as deep as the lightless expanse of an ocean of shadows.^[8]

After Sunny formed his fourth core, becoming a devil, Soul Serpent also rose to the same class acquiring the ability [Formless]. In its Soul Beast form, Soul Serpent can now assume the shape of any shadow contained within its master's soul, inheriting all powers and abilities. However, the shadow must be of the same or lower Rank and Class than itself.^[9]

After ascension, the stygian creature grew at least twice its previous size, its mighty body covered in adamantine jet-black scales and as thick as a tree trunk. Its terrifying maw was wide enough to swallow Sunny's whole human body with its triangular head and two tenebrous eyes looking at im from above.^[7]

Serpent's Shadow's Soul Beast form has become a Transcendent Terror, and although it's not yet Daeron's size, its maw appears to swallow an entire military APC whole.^[10]

In Chapter 2634, the gargantuan shape of Serpent wrapped around one of the Dark Castle's towers.

The serpent's eyes were full of strange, alien intelligence. There was no aggression or ill will in them instead was simply recognition.^[8]

The shadow must be of the same or lower Rank and Class than the Soul Serpent for the transformation to take place, and won't be consumed in the process."
[Mark of Shadows] Ability Description: "Soul Serpent allows the Lord of Shadows to mark his vassals."
[Slaying Blade] Ability Description: "When in its Soul Weapon form, Soul Serpent embodies the Death aspect of Shadow God. As such, it ignores the will of greater beings."

Forms Soul Serpent assumed using its ability [Formless]. Before it shapeshifts into different form, Serpent turns into a mass of liquid darkness first.^[11][12]

As the Shadow consumes its own essence to maintain the form of other creatures and using their Abilities, once it was exhausted, the effects of those powers it had assumed would be gone.^[11][13]

Sunny's soul companion, Serpent, constantly changed shape to respond to situations. Serpent was not as well-suited for mayhem as Shadow Saint and Fiend, but it easily compensated for its shortcomings. It served a vital purpose, as a small part of Sunny's essence was restored with each enemy it killed. Therefore, Serpent's value extended beyond the Nightmare Creatures it defeated, contributing to Sunny's kills.^[14]

• In Chapter 1649, Sunny can integrate Serpent's ability like [Serpentine Steel] and [Soul Reaver] to his Shadow Shell, Onyx Serpent.
• There is a significant increase in the amount of spirit essence Sunny could absorb from the darkness, possibly due to Serpent's new Ability or its evolved [Shadow Guide] Attribute. This attribute has previously helped him control his shadow essence better.^[15]

• This Legacy Shadow gets new Abilities/Attributes from mastery of Shadow Dance:
  • Second Mastery: [Soul Beast] Attribute and [Soul Reaver] Ability^[8]
  • Third Mastery: [Grace of Shadows] Ability^[7]
• In Chapter 1612, Soul Serpent was confirmed to be Transcendent Terror.
  • As a Transcendent Terror, the most powerful form Serpent could assume was that of the Sybil of the Fallen Grace, the Terror of LO49.^[13]
• Serpent had always been unique. Its Rank depended on how well Sunny had mastered Shadow Dance while its Class was equal to that of its master. Although Sunny couldn't receive Aspect Legacy Relics after being banished from the Spell, he could advance in his mastery, leading to Serpent becoming Supreme. Granted, he hesitated to dive deeper into Shadow Dance, due to losing his True Name.^[17]
• In Chapter 1895, Sunny's avatar in shadow form fused with Serpent in weapon form.
• In Chapter 2129, Eurys told Sunny that the Shadow Realm is where Shadow Serpents come after losing their masters, to follow them into death. It implied that all Shadow Slave had their own Soul Serpents as he asked why Sunny is running around without one.
• In Chapter 2635, it was mentioned that Soul Serpent is a Supreme Titan, implying Sunny mastered fifth step of Shadow Dance when he transformed into a Stone Saint in Chapter 2404.
• It was mentioned in Chapter 3155 that Serpent coiled around the hill where the Bright Castle had once stood, its scales like a wall of black onyx.
