Marvelous Mimic is a Shadow created from the modified Covetous Coffer and the shadow of the Mordant Mimic.[3]

Shadow - House Form

A house in Bastion situated on the lake's shore with back windows opening straight to the water. The elegant one-story cottage, built from brown bricks, featured a sloping tiled roof and a tall chimney. It had a small garden in the back and a neat lawn in front with herbs and flowers growing in ceramic pots.[7]

The basement of the Marvelous Mimic contained multiple chambers. There is an expansive workshop hidden behind the boutique, that contains his things for work including a forge, kiln, pottery wheel, and sewing machine. He also had a large storage room with materials sourced from Nightmare Creatures carcasses.[8]

The Shadow's interior is a separate dimension, so to create a workshop in the basement he used the manifested windows above ground to allow air and light. Below ground, he created enchanted lanterns for light, the heat plates for warmth, and used the inferior copies of the Quintessence Pearl to supply air. The Marvelous Mimic supplies the essence needed to keep these items working. This arrangement turns the interior of the Mimic into an isolated environment that can sustain human life, even if the Shadow is buried underground or underwater.[8]

Out there, standing on a tall hill above the city, was a sinister castle built of black stone.

It was grand and magnificent, with dozens of towers rising into the air, each supported by a number of elaborate arches and columns. Grotesque gargoyles were staring down on the ruins from under the eaves.

A grandiose staircase led to the castle gates. In front of it, there was a vast stone platform, meant to serve as the gathering ground for the soldiers in case the enemy was to somehow scale the hill.

Now, however, a stunning temple of black marble was perched on it instead.

Ability

It can take the shape of a picturesque house. Its interior existed in a separate dimension, which allowed Sunny to hide a lot of things below ground. The house could also walk, swim, shapeshift, devour intruders, and produce soul coins.[3]

The Marvelous Mimic could produce soul coins by devouring living beings. These coins could be used to strengthen one's soul, but if fed back, they would strengthen it instead. However, its most important traits depend on the potency of its master's soul, not the Shadow's own.[9]

Background

Sunny, in his twenty-second birthday, turned the Covetous Coffer into a flawed Echo, lacking the main component of autonomy. It took him another month to fuse the shadow of the Mordant Mimic with the Covetous Coffer, with Serpent's help. Sadly, everything happened so fast that he failed to glean the secrets of the mysterious process. He still had no idea how exactly Shadows were made, but his Aspect contained some authority that allowed him to create them.[10]

Trivia

  • Before Sunny turned Covetous Coffer into a Shadow, it is an Ascended Memory of Fourth Tier.[5]
  • Sunny kept the Marvelous Mimic with him in Bastion.[3]
  • After losing his home in NQSC, Sunny ensured his new home would follow him wherever he went.[3]
  • The Marvelous Mimic's coins are more valuable, but there are only a few opportunities to consume someone in Bastion, resulting in a scarcity of these coins.[11]
  • Mimic's dimensional storage is unique because its volume does not depend on the creature's Rank and Class but rather on the potency of the master of the creature's soul.[12] (Refer to Covetous Coffer's enchantments)
  • It can retract its terrifying fangs which were usually out at night, back inside the door frame.[13]
  • Marvelous Mimic was producing a steady stream of soul coins after gorging itself on the bodies of fallen immortals after the Eternal City (Event).[14]
  • In Chapter 2830, Revel relocate the Dark Castle and make it a wandering fortress.
  • In Chapter 3152, Sunny liberated Fiend (became True Shadow Creature) for Fifth Nightmare preparations. (Refer to Status of the Shadows)
  • It was mentioned in Chapter 3155 that the Bright Castle had long since disappeared. The hill where it once stood was left empty, with the Marvelous Mimic instead towering over the Dark City.
