Her True Name was described as beautiful, though not as fierce or fearsome as most other True Names. It feels unfamiliar to her yet strangely comforting, like a missing piece of her soul that, upon discovery, makes her feel more complete.[2]

Her Flaw is extremely severe which means that her Aspect will be extraordinary, likely of at least Supreme Rank, and at most Sacred.[6]
Dream Realm Anchor: —[5]
Flaw: [Crown of Thorns].[5]
Flaw Description: [You cannot kill].[7][5]
Rain's Flaw is initially perceived as absolute inability to take a life. This restriction applies universally, not just people but even Nightmare Creatures, despite the constant danger of the world and the necessity of combat for survival. As a result, she is incapable of performing lethal actions such as killing enemies in battle, to the extent that she cannot even shoot her bow in a way that would end a life.[7]
- In Chapter 2865, it was mentioned that Rain was able to bypass her Flaw because it was subjective, not an absolute restriction: it only prevented her from acting if she believed her actions would directly endanger a life. As explained by Cassie, although stabbing someone in the heart is clearly murder, the Flaw would not stop Rain if she genuinely believed otherwise. Asterion exploited this by twisting her mind to believe Cassie would not die from such a wound, distorting her perception of reality and allowing Rain to attempt the killing blow.

| Upon awakening, Rain gained two Aspect Abilities and two pools of essence: a pool of soul essence and a pool of spirit essence. These two forms of power allowed her to interact with the world in unique ways not centered on violence, but on transformation and naming.[8] | ||||
| Awakening (Rain's Awakening) |
Dormant | 2292 | Active |
Her Dormant Ability allowed her to give Names to things — not mere mundane names, but powerful ones that were almost, yet not quite, True Names. These Names were permanent and carried a modest but real power of their own. Bestowing a Name required a single-time infusion of spirit essence, and the more essence she invested, the stronger the Name's influence on the Named object and the world.[8] For example, after gathering a large amount of spirit essence, Rain infused it into the finished road and Named it, which caused something miraculous to occur. When Rain Named the road, the dormant Shadow Realm Fragment left behind by Sunny stirred, stretching along the road's length. As a result, the Road of Shadows became protected from the deadly radiance of the white abyss above Godgrave. This achievement came at the cost of exhausting all of Rain's spirit essence, causing her to collapse on the spot.[8] Rain later discovered that using the ancient runic language of the Nightmare Spell made her Naming more efficient, consuming less spirit essence. She also found that she could not Name things that already possessed a True Name.[8] |
| Awakening (Rain's Awakening) |
Awakened | 2292 | Active |
Her Awakened Ability allowed her to assign temporary descriptors, or Epithets, to objects and beings. Unlike Names, Epithets only lasted as long as she could sustain them with her soul essence. She could apply two Epithets at once, for example making a shield both Indestructible and Magnetic. However, more powerful Epithets consumed more essence, and it was easier to reinforce an object's natural qualities than to force unnatural ones. Assigning Epithets to living beings was particularly expensive, but Rain could still do so, even immobilizing people temporarily if their Rank was not too high.[8] Rain learned that assigning Epithets to things that already had a Name or True Name cost less essence and achieved stronger results. Using a known True Name as an Epithet was significantly more potent; for instance, assigning the True Name "Burning" to a sword would melt it, while using a simple "Burning" descriptor would only cause it to heat up mildly.[8] Her Awakened Ability sometimes proved superior to traditional Shaping techniques. Unlike a Shaper's spell, which began fading once the spoken Name fell silent, an Epithet persisted for as long as Rain could supply essence. She could even sustain minor Epithets indefinitely with careful management, making her abilities extremely versatile and enduring in the right circumstances.[8] Rain could even apply Epithets to herself, subtly enhancing her own capabilities. At one point, during a gathering with her friends, she secretly bore the Epithets "Sober" and "Well-Rested", although maintaining them consumed a considerable amount of her essence.[8] After she became Ascended, she can maintain 3 Epithets.[9][10] Epithets

| Ascension (Natural Ascending) |
Ascended (Master) | 2796(Flashback), 2864(Flashback) | Active |
Her Ascended Ability is described as a profound form of communication tied to her Attribute, [Godheart], which bonds her heart deeply with the world. While a side effect is understanding all languages, the core of her Ability allows her to communicate with the spirits of things, whether living or nonliving, and thus know their true nature. This enables her to intuitively sense what a thing wants or its inherent characteristics, similar to the metaphor of a sculptor discovering the statue hidden within a stone. Communication is more precise with entities she can call by name, and assigning Names may even help objects or beings develop their spirits, enhancing her ability to interact with them.[11] Her Ascended Ability complements her Awakened Ability, which involves assigning Epithets efficiently by sensing the true nature of things. By understanding these natures, she can assign more potent Epithets using less essence. Similarly, her Dormant Ability likely allows her to strengthen her communication through Naming, giving entities a clearer spirit to interact with. Overall, her ability to sense the nature of things is a versatile skill that functions like divination through communication, allowing insight into the inherent essence and truth of her surroundings.[11] Her Ascended Ability, while powerful, is a blade that cuts both ways. Being able to sense the true nature of things allows her to perceive the essence, intentions, and desires of objects, beings, and possibly even environments. However, this same sensitivity makes her vulnerable to the world's harsh truths. Just as she can understand what a piece of stone wants to be or the hidden flaws in metal, she is also exposed to realities that might be unsettling, overwhelming, or dangerous.[11] Her Ascended Ability showed her that things have spirits, places have spirits, and even collectives of living beings sometimes have spirits. This ability allowed her to assign Names and Epithets not only to individuals but also to larger entities.[12] When she entered the Ivory Tower and encountered numerous soldiers, she initially thought she would not be able to assign Epithets to all of them individually. However, after realizing that a collective of people could possess a spirit, she assigned a Name to the entire group and then added an Epithet to that Name, causing the soldiers to fall asleep.[12] Process of Ascending Rain achieved Ascension through an unconventional and highly dangerous method, by shattering her own soul core. During the process, a fierce current of essence flowed through her body while she endured a vicious agony of soul damage, as thin cracks snaked through her soul core. To survive the collapse and facilitate the formation of a new core, she assigned herself Epithets, declaring: "I am the Long-Lasting Promise of a Distant Sky. I am the Enduring Promise of a Distant Sky. I am the Promise of a Distant Sky who walks the Path of Ascension; I am... Ascended", thereby tempering herself to slow down the collapse of her soul before the new core was built. Upon completion, her new Ascended soul core rapidly absorbed essence, elevating its quality and circulating it through her body, resulting in the characteristic transformation of being reborn, reforged, and tempered, confirming the success of her Ascension.[13] |

Soul Core & Soul Sea
Rain's soul core is a bit special. It is represented by two counters: the first measures her soul core saturation, which reflects the strength she has gained since Awakening. The second counter represents her soul's connection to the essence of the world, granting her access to a form of spirit essence. Unlike soul core saturation, this spirit essence does not directly enhance her physical strength, but it is still under her control. Over time, this connection has manifested in her Soul Sea, which initially depicted a radiant sun (soul core) surrounded by little lights (memories) orbiting it. However, as she accumulated more spirit essence, clouds began to form, obscuring the sun and turning the Soul Sea grey and stormy. These clouds symbolize the spirit essence she has gathered, and their increasing presence suggests her connection to this energy is growing. While accumulating more spirit essence could be highly beneficial, Rain must discover on her own how to deepen this connection and absorb more of it.[2]
Soul Constitution
Rain's soul constitution is characterized by a deep connection to the world, which allows her to absorb a special energy called spirit essence. This bond, however, is two-way, meaning that while she can draw spirit essence from the world, she also has the potential to leak it back into the environment, particularly during moments of strong emotion. This leakage can manifest in unusual ways, such as causing random storm clouds to gather or dissipate.[5]
It is important to accumulate as much spirit essence as possible, as deeper reserves may benefit the eventual transformation of her soul core and could act as a boon during her Ascension. However, it was advised to contain the spirit essence within her soul and avoid letting it seep out uncontrollably, especially in places like Godgrave.[5]
