Condition

Rain's Flaw is that she cannot kill. This restriction is initially perceived as absolute, affecting her ability to take life in any circumstance. Initially, Sunny had hoped there might be a limit to the Flaw—perhaps only applying to those weaker or defenseless or maybe depending on whether the enemy deserved to die. However, these possibilities were disproven after further confrontation with abominations, revealing the true nature of her Flaw. It is not just about mercy or deserving; it is a complete inability to kill anything, which becomes particularly harsh in a world where survival is a constant struggle.[2]

Despite her Flaw that prevents her from killing, it does not render her completely powerless. She can still wound, immobilize, and debilitate a creature. With enough foresight and will, she can win a fight before it begins or even avoid it entirely. Additionally, her talent for the Sorcery of Names is a significant advantage, as Shapers have a versatile range of powers that can both restrain and restrict, serving purposes beyond just destruction, including creation. With time, effort, and willpower, Rain can learn to navigate her Flaw effectively.[2]

In Chapter 2865, it was mentioned that Rain was able to bypass her Flaw because it was subjective, not an absolute restriction: her Flaw did not physically prevent her from delivering a lethal wound, but instead made her hand refuse to move only if she believed that her action would directly endanger a living being's life. As explained by Cassie while stabbing a person in the heart was obviously an act of murder, the Flaw would not stop her if she earnestly believed otherwise, meaning it would allow her to push a dagger between someone's ribs so long as she did not perceive it as lethal. Asterion exploited this by twisting her mind enough to make her believe that Cassie wouldn't die from being stabbed in the heart, effectively distorting her perception of reality; because of this altered belief, Rain's Flaw did not prevent her from attempting the killing blow.
