The purpose of the United Cities Alliance was to preserve the pre-system culture and identity of Earth. To this end, a coalition of lower-ranked Cities, marginalized in the global hierarchy, united under a common cause: to seize control of Earth and purge it of the Divine influence that has pervaded the planet, beginning as early as the tutorials. At the helm of this movement is Arthur—a ruthless visionary driven by resentment and fear. He sees Jake, Casper, the Sword Saint, and even his own son Jacob as obstacles to a purified world order—one without gods, risen, or monster.
Branding themselves as the true stewards of Earth’s future, the alliance declared the top ten ranked Cities "enemies of the planet"—symbols of unnatural corruption, monster elitism, and dangerous alignment with godly powers.
Central to United Cities Alliance's campaign was the targeting of high-profile leaders, who they viewed as the political linchpins enabling the growing influence of multiversal forces. Seeking to bring resistant Cities like Paradise under their control, the coalition used coercion, threats, subterfuge, and strategic force.
Coup Attempts
Treasure Hunt Ambush
During the treasure hunt, Jake and a small group he'd been collaborating with are trapped in a magical containment dome by a large gathering of city leaders. Jake recognizes his captors as the City Lords of the independent cities of Earth. [1] The leader of the conspirators declared that their intention was to kill Jake, the Chosen of the Malefic Viper, as proof that the independent cities rejected Divine influence and were not to be taken lightly. The assassination attempt is ultimately unsuccessful. Upon being called "the most prominent slave of the gods", Jake becomes infuriated by the group's disrespect and cowardice in ambushing him. A brief battle ensues, during which Jake proves that he vastly outmatches the ragtag coalition in combat capabilities. Jake kills the spokesman of the group before forcing the remainder of the would be assassins to surrender their treasure bounties in exchange for being allowed to teleport out of the event with their lives.
Attempt to Remove all Non-Allied World Leaders
Despite their stated stance of being against Divine and extraterrestrial influence on the planet, the United Cities Alliance allies with Ell'Hakan, Chosen of Yip of Yore and ally to the Holy Church, to overthrow the World Council of Earth.[2] After committing numerous terroristic bombings of teleportation circles to isolate the major faction cities, the Allliance contracts the notorious Court of Shadows to assassinate key City Lords, replacing them with loyal operatives. Additionally, several key Earth leaders are targeted and temporarily put out of commission, including Jake, Miranda, the Sword Saint, and the Fallen King. The ultimate goal of these attacks is to remove anyone capable of opposing Arthur at the upcoming World Congress during which the System has declared a World Leader must be selected before they can adjourn.
While the Alliance is temporarily able to take over a significant number of cities and install leaders loyal to their cause, the coup is ultimately unsuccessful as Jake, Miranda, Miyamoto, and the Fallen King are able to regroup and thwart Ell'Hakan's plans, forcing the invader to flee the planet, leaving the Alliance underpowered and unable to hold onto their newly accrued power.
