The gods have used nothing to contain the Void, enveloping it in a layer of nothingness that the Void Beings could not cross, like mist. Similar to the flood of mist on the Hollow Mountains. It was speculated that here are actual beings born from and dwelling in nothingness. The Demon of Destiny fears beings born from and dwelling in nothingness.[1]
Nothing is described as what the gods used to seal the Void, functioning as an insulating barrier that represents a state of absolute non-existence capable of erasing anything that comes into contact with it.[2]
Creatures of Nothing
The creature of Nothingness is a mysterious mist creature that can consume the living souls of anyone who enters its mist body. The nothingness was oppressive. As the mist flowed over an abomination devoured by nothingness, it slowly dissolved into a milky fog, erased, as if it had never existed at all.[3]
Connections to Nothingness
Sunny remembered the cohort's journey to the outer boundary of the Underworld[4] and the forlorn shadows he found in the maze. He believed they must have encountered a creature of nothingness somewhere in the dark maze. Sunny and the rest were warned by Cassie to keep their eyes shut, and they passed through the darkness unscathed.[5]
Sunny knows two creatures that make him want to keep his eyes closed: Torment and Mordret. Mordret is the self-proclaimed Prince of Nothing, who can enter a being's soul through the eyes. Mordret's connection to nothingness extends to the original body he was sent into in the Second Nightmare, which belonged to a mysterious mist creature that consumed every living soul in the Kingdom of Hope[6]. Mordret also underwent a transformation in the Ebony Tower, which belonged to Nether, the Prince of the Underworld.[3]
Background
On the fifth level of the Ebony Tower are carved runes written by Nether for himself.[7][8] The third passage told something about nothing.[1]

Trivia
- In Palace of Imagination, Others contained nothingness within them, and when the Reflection was destroyed, that nothingness was released as mist.[9]
- In Chapter 3055, Nephis noted that, aside from Hollow Mountains, there was another place where existence was torn apart and nothingness was freely seeping into the world—the frozen wastelands west of Ravenheart.
- Sunny recalled learning of this second source of nothingness from a vision in Ariel's Game. He knew only that the Jade Palace and a chain of volcanoes created by one of its Components prevented the all-consuming cold from spreading farther, and that the frozen wastelands had existed since the dawn of time. He wondered whether another Void Being had been slain there, or whether, more frighteningly, it had not been slain but merely sealed by a vast ocean of ice.[10]
