Article contents
Jasper is a Shimmerfur Warspnatcher Jake met during a visit to Hunting Ground 1 at the Pantheon of Life. Jake eventually helps Jasper with his evolution to B-grade and also helps Jasper obtain a Divine Blessing from the Seeker with a little help from the Malefic Viper.
Shimmerfur Warpsnatchers are known to be extremely mobile, able to cross vast distances, enter and exit their own subspace at will, and have potent magics related to space and mysticism. They also are especially sensitive towards auras and have a set of powerful skills that help them identify dangerous creatures and areas.[1] Shimmerfur Warpsnatchers are not aggressive unless first attacked but are well known to steal battle loot from fights they did not participate in. As such, they are believed to follow a Path based on scavenging and the consumption of natural treasures.[2]
Story Summary
Meeting Jake
Jake Thayne first encountered Jasper within one of Pantheon's hunting grounds in Area 1. Jasper, a strange but cute-looking beast, asked Jake for a "gift." Sensing no danger and finding the creature endearing, Jake offered it an uncommon monster core from a Rainbowfeather Songmender. Jasper accepted the offering and then departs.[2]
Later, after Jake’s confrontation with the B-grade Rainbowfeather Sovereign and an ambush by the remaining B-grade creatures from the hunting grounds, he was forced to flee.[3] Relying on the escape functionality of Wings of the Malefic Viper, Jake allowed his intuition to guide him to safety. This led him to Jasper’s hidden loot cave. Despite being confused about Jake's sudden appearance, Jasper was more than happy to shelter him while Jake rested.
Jake woke covered in a pile of fruits that Jasper has left for him. Curious, Jake asked why Jasper protected him. Jasper replied, “Hunter nice. I help Hunter. Hunter help me.” He then expressed his desire to leave the hunting grounds and explore the wider Multiverse. Jake agreed and promised to do what he could to help.[4]
Leaving the Hunting Grounds
Leveraging the power of nepotism, Jake secured permission from the S-grade Hunting Director to take Jasper with him.[1] He brought Jasper back to his mansion in the Pantheon of Life, where Jasper set up his new loot cave in the cellar beneath the estate.
Wanting to thank Jasper for his help and curious to further explore his abilities as the Harbinger of Primeval Origins, Jake offers to assist with Jasper’s evolution from C-grade to B-grade. He explains the process in detail, ensuring Jasper understands what will happen and what the risks are. Jasper agrees and Jake begins preparing a live ritual for Record infusion to coincide with Jasper’s moment of evolution.
Evolution Ritual
Just as the ritual nears completion, Jasper, fulfilling a step in his racial evolution quest, steals a natural treasure but is gravely injured in the process. He returns to the Pantheon suffering from severe soul damage. The only viable way to prevent permanent harm is to complete the evolution immediately.[5] Jake proceeds with the ritual, incorporating the stolen treasure, the Supreme Jewel of the Drifting Planes, as a key component. He channels his Primeval Origin Energy ( “Jake Juice”) along with his arcane affinity to complete the ritual.[6]
The ritual draws significant attention and is observed by a number of gods, including Artemis, The Malefic Viper, Yggdrasil, Nature's Attendant, Duskleaf, and two versions of Minaga. Just when it seems that Jasper might die from his injuries, the ritual is completed and Jasper vanishes, drawn into the evolution space.
Jasper returns as a B-grade Shimmershroud Planeswarper, a race so obscure that even Artemis and The Malefic Viper are unfamiliar with it, suggesting it is either the first of its kind or a reemergence of a long-extinct variant, much like Sandy and Sylphie.[7] He is faster, stealthier, has the ability to obscure identification, and has access to the Shadow Realm.[8]
Seeking a Blessing
Knowing that Jasper will require a blessing, Jake turns to The Malefic Viper and asks if he knows of a suitable God. In response, The Malefic Viper contacts The Seeker, a unique and elusive deity described as "a thief, a safecracker, an explorer, a scholar, a hoarder."
The Seeker then breaks into the Pantheon of Life,[9] effortlessly bypassing their formidable protective barriers in order to speak with Jasper about receiving a blessing. To test him, The Seeker seals Jasper inside a cube, a trial designed to challenge the core of his Path. Jasper succeeds, prompting The Seeker to remark, “You performed far above my already unrealistic expectations.”[10]
Though he already has an S-grade Chosen, The Seeker offers Jasper a Divine Blessing, with the possibility of it evolving into a True Blessing in the future.
Afterward, Jasper says his goodbyes and leaves the Pantheon of Life alongside The Seeker, setting out to explore more of the Multiverse. Before departing, he bids farewell to both Artemis and Jake, who reminds him that he will always have a home to return to.[10]
Jasper nods and replies with a smile, “Jasper. Jake. Family!”
Appearance
C-grade
It was a small four-legged creature, no taller than Jake's knees, as it sat on its hind legs. Soft-looking blueish-white fur covered its body except for a back with glimmering spikes, reminding Jake a bit of a porcupine. The small, cute sort that is. It also had many cat-like features, including its face and limber body, making it overall look like a fusion between a cat and a porcupine.
B-grade
Jasper's overall appearance remained mostly the same post-evolution. His body was light blue color. The spikes on his back were reduced significantly in length and a lot smoother than before. His paws were now entirely white on the underside.[7] Size-wise, there was no visible difference except that his length had increased by a fair deal. He had a long, thin tail extended up his back, tipped with what looked like a small gemstone, but was actually oddly shaped hair. His pupils had turned into a deep blue color that gave off a faint shine, indicating some kind of ocular skill.
Overall, Jake summarized the change as Jasper's cat-like features being boosted while the porcupine ones were downgraded.

Trivia
- Jasper initially did not have a name in-story. Zogarth requested names for the character in the author notes for Chapter 1141 ("Secrets Disclosed") and selected Jasper from amongst the reader-submitted entries.
- When Jake attempts to remove Jasper from the Hunting Grounds, the Outpost Manager attempts to arrest him. The ill-fated attempt was interrupted by the arrival of the Hunting Director.[11] Having been excited at the idea of being arrested for the first time, Jake is a bit disappointed.
- Warpsnatchers are natural C-grades. At D-grade, they accompany their parents, learning. At C-grade, they are sent out into the multiverse on their own. at B-grade, they will seek a mate. They generally only reproduce with other Warpsnatchers.[12]
