Weaving is the medium of sorcery to produce Spellweave (Weaver's Sorcery). A sorcerer who can do weaving is also called a weaver.[1]

Origin

It is the sorcery created by the Demon of Fate.[1]

Those who can weave sorcery were called weaver. The Demon of Fate's sorcery was not something gods, let alone mortals, could easily learn. Only few people were proficient in it. One such sorcerer was one of the two High Priests of the Nightmare Spell.[1]

Nature

Weaving is a unique and artificial form of sorcery, distinct from other types like the Sorcery of Names and the Sorcery of Runes, which are rooted in the natural laws of existence. Unlike these ancient forms, weaving was created by a single entity, Weaver, the Demon of Fate, making it inherently "unnatural". Its function does not rely on Names or Runes but instead operates through special patterns of strings that guide the flow of essence. These strings exist beyond the material plane, requiring special eyes to see them and special hands to touch them.[2]

How it works

Runic sorcery and shaping relied on True Names, one etched through a written language, the other invoking them directly. However, weaving did not rely on words to create enchantments, but there was still a place for words in a spellweave for the runes to be inscribed. These runes, translated from the corresponding string patterns, express the name of the Memory, its description, and the True Name of its master, if they possessed one.[3]

Crafting Weapons

To craft extraordinary weapons possessing mystical power, one needs valuable material that could sometimes substitute skill. One would need to be a god of weaving to create an enchantment to pierce a Great Beast's hide with mundane steel. However, replacing mundane steel with the bones of a Great Tyrant would eliminate the need for an enchantment. Such weapons would possess mystical power, enough to kill the Beast.[4]

Trivia

  • Sunny inherited the intrinsic predisposition to weaving from the Demon of Fate. He was able to intuitively sense the purpose of spellweave elements due to his connection to Weaver. This talent was literally in his blood.[5]
The strings which were ephemeral and unseen to anyone except for him is due to Blood Weave and could interact with his flesh due to his phalanxes which were reinforced by the evolved Bone Weave. He had inherited an intuitive understanding of the guiding principles of spellweave, but it was not like he knew what to do. All he had was his memory of the spellweave patterns he had seen before and a vague feeling of the purpose behind them. He used a soul shard to stabilize his weave.[6]
  • Learning how to weave runes required both a good understanding of weaves and a deep knowledge of the runic language the Spell used.[7]
  • In Chapter 1949, Sunny used his incarnation to fuse with the Silver Bell. This fusion caused Sunny to feel its essence deeply, splitting his consciousness between being himself and being the bell. He experienced the bell's spellweave, which was a complex tapestry of ethereal strings, shining brightly in the darkness. This profound experience gave him a new, vivid understanding of his sorcery, revealing details and nuances he had never felt before.
Sunny discovered that using an incarnation to augment a Memory provided profound insights into its enchantments and spellweave, beyond mere observation. Previously, he could empirically study and recreate weaves, understanding their functions but not their underlying reasons. This method allowed him to innovate, but he still lacked a deep theoretical understanding.[8]
Fusing with Memories changed this, giving Sunny the potential to comprehend the fundamental laws of weaving. This would enable him to solve enchantment problems by understanding their basic principles, rather than relying on existing patterns. Although mastering these tools would take time, this new ability marked a significant advancement in his sorcery, promising deeper insights and greater creative potential.[8]
