Spellweave is believed to be Weaver's own sorcery. The Spell itself was created from it, as well as all the magical items that the Spell gifted to the Awakened—Memories and Echoes. This was the magic that all humans knew, and most believed to be the only kind there is.[1]

Description

The Spellweave manifests as the starlit void seen by all Awakened during the brief moments between conquering a Nightmare and returning to reality.[2] This endless black void is illuminated by innumerable stars connected by rays of silver light, while countless ethereal diamond strings form an infinitely complex pattern.[3][4] The entire structure is itself the Spellweave.[2]

Unlike the weaves used to create Memories and Echoes, which are woven from essence string, the Spellweave possesses one glaring, fundamental difference: the Nightmare Spell is woven out of Strings of Fate.[2]

Trivia

  • Upon completing The Weave, Sunny realizes that, by observing the Spellweave, he can learn what Weaver intended him to master, as it is another of Weaver's creations that he has always had access to through the Nightmare Spell. Since Sunny had already gained the ability to touch the Strings of Fate and even glimpse knowledge from them—though only in a rudimentary and perilous manner—he concludes that the completed The Weave must have granted him a greater capacity to manipulate the Strings of Fate.[2]
