Volume 7

In the heart of the Tomb of Ariel, on the mysterious lake outside the tunnel full of harrowing runes had the second kind of runes that the Spell refused to translate. The runes that had to do with the Unknown, the progenitor of the daemons, and these writings did not threaten to corrupt one's soul.[1]

The runes mentioned the seven daemons: Demon of Fate, Demon of Desire, Demon of Oblivion, Demon of Dread, Demon of Imagination, Demon of Repose, and Demon of Choice/Destiny. These daemons were called the children of the Forgotten God, the progenitor of the seven daemons.[1]

Truth

The message left behind by Ariel, the Demon of Dread:[2]

Reveal

[Here is the truth I leave behind
That reveals the lie of the gods
The Forgotten One slumbers
In the Void
Eternal, everchanging
Dreaming of escape
The gods, who were flawless
Learned shame
And were flawless no more
I am a child of their transgression
And thus, their Flaw]

Weaver's Lineage & the Forgotten God

Reveal

Weaver's Lineage is described explicitly as a curse that should never have existed. It originates from the Forgotten God, an entity whose potential return poses a catastrophic threat. The mechanism of his awakening is tied to worship—specifically, the reverence directed toward individuals who carry his blood. This was exemplified by Hope, a benevolent daemon who lived among humans and was deeply loved and worshiped by them. As a result, the Forgotten God's power grew stronger through the adoration she received. To halt the spread of his influence, the gods destroyed Hope's kingdom and imprisoned her in the Ivory Tower.[3]

Relation to Nightmare Spell

Reveal

The Nightmare Spell wasn't born of mortals' fear — it was the nightmare of the Forgotten God. It was a sorcery created as a lullaby to trap the God of Corruption in endless slumber after the Void Gate was opened (related to the Nine) and the god stirred awake and freed.[4]

After escaping the Void, the Forgotten God had not found freedom but had instead become trapped within an unending nightmare. While he remained in slumber, his dreams gave rise to the Seeds of Nightmare, the Nightmare Gates, the Nightmare Creatures, and the spreading Corruption — all of which were emanations of the nightmares he dreamed, gradually consuming what remained of the Flame.[4]

In Chapter 2412, Sunny begins to understand the scale of Weaver's plan. If the Spell was meant to lull the Forgotten God to sleep, then there was likely one more Nightmare beyond the Sixth — a Seventh Nightmare, where the god is imprisoned, dreaming.[4]

The conflict that the challengers of this Nightmare were meant to solve was the conflict that plague all of existence. The Nightmare Spell simultaneously traps the god within the Nightmare and nurtures mortals to become gods powerful enough to kill him.[4]
