The timeline of Dream Realm civilizations is unclear, but it is known that the Corrupted, Nightmare Creatures, have always existed.[1]
History
The Age of Chaos, the Age of Gods, the Age of Heroes, the Golden Age, the Age of Daemons, and the Age of the Nightmare Spell all played a role in shaping the world's history.[2]
Age of Chaos

The first known era is the era of the void, where gods were born and defeated the elder abyssal beings, creating the world.[1] The Age of Chaos ended with the imprisonment of the void and the creation of the world.[2]
Age of Gods

The Age of Gods was a prehistoric time when the gods and those living things they created, as well as the daemons who came out of nowhere, battled the remnant abyssal creatures across the newborn world.[2]
In the battles of the ancient pasts, gods and daemons were allies, indicating that the war against the abyss continued even after the abyss was sealed.[1]
At the dawn of the new world, severe battles led to the extermination of abyssal remnants. A terrible creature was slain by the gods once, and its blood seeped into the ground, becoming true darkness. The place where the creature fell was now known as the Hollow Mountains, beneath which lay the darkness of the Underworld. The creature was a void being, proving that some of them had walked the gods' world after its creation.[1]
Age of Heroes

The Age of Heroes began when humanity spread and fought against Corrupted creatures for the dominion of inhibiting the world. The abominations were eventually exterminated, turning them into rare foes.[2]
This was the age where Noctis and other Chain Lords were born. A time when humans were not yet dominant in the world. They had to fight against the Corrupted to conquer new lands, protect cities, and avoid extinction. This time was remembered as the Age of Heroes, as powerful champions were raised to defeat the dreadful beings.[1]
The Kingdom of Hope's destruction marked a significant historical turning point, marking the end of the Age of Heroes.[3][2]
Golden Age

A golden age of peace and prosperity with an unknown name, where humanity ruled the world unopposed.[2]
The destruction of the Kingdom of Hope marked a turning point in history that signified the end of the Age of Heroes. The Golden Age was actually poisoned from the beginning, with the gods growing distant and their followers fighting among themselves. It occurred at the dusk of the Golden Age, shortly before the daemons rose in rebellion against the gods. This war that destroyed the civilization of the Dream Realm and can be considered an age of its own.[2]
Age of Daemons

The Age of Daemons was a terrible and mysterious age, with marks left by the great war between the daemons and the gods. The Seeds of Nightmares appeared between the start of the Doom War and the present day, where Corruption reclaimed the world.[2]
Age of the Nightmare Spell
- Main article: Age of the Nightmare Spell
The Age of the Nightmare Spell seemed to repopulate the Dream Realm, breathing new life into it.[2]
The history of the Dream Realm had never truly ended as there are human settlements on its perilous reaches in the present.[2]
