Mastery

Knowledge of Fire

Nephis comprehended the Knowledge of Fire in Twilight.[1] During the battle with Soul Stealer, she made a breakthrough and conceived a new way of using her Aspect. She destroyed one of her soul cores to unleash a conflagration of soul flame.[2]

Nephis's soul essence is especially potent, but she also used sorcery of Names. Using the Name of Wind to fan flames across Twilight and absorb them. She then ignited her soul and whispered the Name of Fire, destroying all Soul Stealer vessels and the Defiled horde, allowing to reform the Terror Core and form a new one.[2]

Knowledge of Corruption

Facing the First Seeker in Verge, she had advanced considerably toward the Knowledge of Corruption.[1]

After she defeated the Madness of Kanakht in her head, she took a big step toward mastering the Knowledge of Corruption. (refer to Eternal City (Event))[3]

In the heart of Estuary, she had made advances in understanding a fourth branch, the Knowledge of Corruption.[4]

Nephis was seen sitting motionlessly on the shore, facing the water. She was found with her hair seeming longer than before, in disarray and covered in ash, losing its usual silver sheen, and her face smeared in ash and expressionless. She is staring into the distance, her grey eyes void of their usual white sparks, with pupils that seem deeper—so deep that they evoke an instinctual fear of unfathomable depths. She appeared affected by something that happened while Sunny and Ananke were sealed, described as having been impacted by the runes in the tunnel, which would have Corrupted anyone but her, though she did not escape unscathed.[4]

Reading Ariel's writings about the Void left a mark on her, adding that mortals are not meant to know the True Names of beings that dwell in the Void. The Creatures of Chaos. She referred to having eaten the fruit of the fourth branch, the Knowledge of Corruption, and also tasting the Knowledge of the Void, after studying runes describing the Void and the beings within it left by the Demon of Dread in the Estuary. Although her Aspect's ability, [Longing], made her immune to Corruption, she still did not escape unscathed. As a result, she refused to share what she learned in the tunnel, calling it "terrible knowledge", and stated she will never speak of it to anyone, not even Sunny, until the day she die, wishing she could forget it but being unable to.[4]

Despite not seeing the Unholy Nightmare Creature directly in Chapter 3111, Nephis perceived its presence through her inherited Knowledge of Corruption, allowing her to sense the true nature of the being.

Knowledge of Destruction

In the last four years (after Throne War), she had not only fully mastered the Knowledge of Destruction, but also started comprehending the Knowledge of Passion.[1]

Knowledge of Passion

This last branch of her Aspect Legacy has helped her understand the underlying nature of her Aspect.[1]

After learning to sense the subtle connections formed between herself and those she inspired, she discovered that there were already countless people in the world who were connected to her. This was due to her fame, which had been exaggerated by the government and made her a tragic hero. Her return as the only Sleeper in history to conquer the Second Nightmare had deepened the reverence and veneration people felt toward her, followed by her adoption into Valor.[1]

Nephis's future Domain was vast and potent, but it wasn't vast enough or potent enough. In the past four years, Nephis endeavored tirelessly to make it even more solid. She learned how to carry herself, present a perfect facade to the masses, and grasp the Knowledge of Passion. She also put her sword where her mouth was, using Clan Valor's will to send her to the most deadly battlefields and dissipate a flood of Nightmare Creatures with their swords.[1]

The number of those touched by her light grew every day, forming countless connections to her soul. Not all of these connections were equal, but the deepest were those of the Fire Keepers, her most loyal followers. Nephis had no idea how to turn this spiderweb of connections into an actual one.[1]

Invocation
The Knowledge of Passion is a branch of Nephis' Aspect Legacy, mastered after she successfully invoked the Name of Passion. Unlike other Names, this one came from within Nephis herself — her own longing, desire, and yearning. To invoke it, she had to be brutally honest with herself, confronting her truest feelings without pretense. The act of channeling Passion placed immense strain on her soul and willpower, far more than any previous Shaping.[5]

Once invoked, Nephis received a torrent of understanding — an underlying grasp of many matters, instinctual knowledge of subtle secrets, intricate techniques, and a collection of Names related to passion and desire. This knowledge felt like the distilled reward of a lifetime of practice and theory, even though she had not consciously lived those experiences.[5]

The invocation of Passion intensified Nephis' desire and Will, dramatically empowering her sorcery. Her Will, burning with uncompromising passion, became potent enough to overpower Abjuration's authority and restore reality to a single, unified world. This Knowledge became a cornerstone of her Aspect, enabling her to ultimately defeat the Cursed Demon.[5]The invocation of the Name of Passion had left deep aftereffects. Even after she stopped channeling it, Nephis remained filled with powerful emotions, which was unusual, as she was typically left drained of all feeling after pushing her Aspect to such extremes.[5]

The Name of Passion appeared to be intimately tied to her essence. Its lingering influence stirred intense desires within her, making her long for comfort, pleasure, and connection—particularly, she longed for Sunny with overwhelming intensity. Despite the emotional toll and the damage it caused, the Name of Passion had enabled her to defeat a unique and ancient Cursed Demon named Abjuration. As a halfbreed, Nephis was able to absorb the soul fragments of the slain creature, allowing her damaged cores to begin healing. Even after the battle ended, the remnants of the Name of Passion continued to affect her deeply, both physically and emotionally.[5]

Trivia

  • After the events in Eternal City, Nephis had come closer to mastering another branch of her Aspect Legacy.[6]
  • It was mentioned in Chapter 2945 that Nephis' Aspect Legacy had three unsealed branches: the Knowledge of Fire, the Knowledge of Passion, and the Knowledge of Destruction. She had also made advances in understanding a fourth branch, referred to as the Knowledge of Corruption.
