Veyers Boranova

Heir of Noble House Boranova. Lost his temper on his disciplinary hearing and got himself expelled (before the story starts) from the academy during his second year.^[1] Tall, blond, and with vivid orange eyes that had a slitted iris and made him look sort of like a snake.^[2]

Used to be Zorian's classmate. Zorian describes him as a menace and says it's a shame that he wasn't expelled earlier.^[1] It is later revealed that his impulsiveness is due to the improper bloodline activation, as the knowledge of the proper ritual (or possibly the required training) was lost when the main line of House Boranova died off except Veyers.^[3]

Zorian claims that Zach and Veyers hated each other and in their second year he punched Zach in the face during class which Zach has no memory of; it appears that Zach's memory of Veyers' existence was erased by Red Robe.^[2]

Veyers is confirmed to have been removed from the time loop; his body can be found at the start of each loop in the house of Jornak Dokochin, a lawyer for the Cult of the Dragon Below; Veyers occasionally acted as Jornak's informant when it came to his classmates and regarding the gossip of the Boranova family.^[4]

Zach and Zorian thought at one stage that Veyers may have been Red Robe, however this has since been discounted. Jornak Dokochin is Red Robe, and he apparently removed Veyers from the time loop because Veyers was hiding in Jornak's/Red Robe's house after being expelled and would see Jornak's/Red Robe's actions and might accidentally make known to Zach that Jornak/Red Robe is acting different from restart to restart, and that Jornak/Red Robe is another time traveler.

Outside the time loop, Veyers came to class and provoked a fight with Trogmar, Briam's fire drake familiar.^[5]
