Raynie

Raynie is a classmate of Zorian Kazinski. Described by Zach as a "red-headed goddess"^[1], she is attractive, good at classes, polite and reserved about her history.^[2] Only Kiana knows her history—she is the daughter of the leader of the Red Fang wolf shifter tribe.^[3][4]

She helps Zorian out by answering some questions in two restarts.^[5][6] Usually in those restarts the class automatically assumes they're dating simply because she didn't refuse to go out to meet.

In one of the later restarts she begins to suspect that he already knows what he came to ask her and she gets a little suspicious. Zorian replies that he knew and was testing if she's lying, and that she also tested him by coming to the combat practice sessions that Zorian led^[7] with his fellow classmates Naim and Estin Grier.^[6] In return, she tells Zorian how to sense the parts of one's soul (the marker, in Zorian's case).^[8]

After the time loop ends, Raynie's younger brother gets kidnapped.^[9] Zorian gets the idea of using blood magic to divine his location and sets up a very expensive and advanced ritual room for that, containing dimensional gates to every location where shifter children are likely to be (in Zorian's opinion). Raynie correctly plays her part in the ritual, and it succeeds. Haslush Ikzeteri and Rea Sashal were awed by Zorian's supposed "connections" which (as they thought) set up the ritual.^[10] Cat and pigeon shifters attack the cultists guarding the shifter children to be sacrificed,^[11] and rescue the children, for which Raynie thanks Zorian.^[12]
