Daimen Kazinski

Daimen Kazinski is Zorian's oldest brother. He is known to be both skilled and charismatic^[1], and was their parents' favorite child^[2]; their father reportedly jokes that Zorian has Daimen's competence, while Fortov has his charm^[1]. He is psychic^[2], but his skills are limited to focused empathy and the ability to turn it on and off^[3].

He is also known to have accessed restricted spells (such as animation spells that target people) as early as his second year at the Academy^[4] (before he was a certified mage), and has tormented Zorian with said spells for practice, as well as various other pranks; repeatedly locking Zorian out of the house has been mentioned^[3]. He also appears to have a focus on and skill with dimensional magic, but didn't know the gate spell until Zorian taught it to him^[3].

He leads expeditions to dangerous areas in search of lost artifacts, ruins, rare plants and magical creatures^[5]. He starts every iteration of the time loop in Koth, spending time with his new fiancée, Orissa Taramatula, whom he met after hiring trackers from her family, instead of searching for the imperial orb in the jungle (his team is tired of it^[3]).

He insisted on bringing his entire team on the expedition together with Zach and Zorian ("I'm not wrecking my reputation like that")^[3].

He was made a temporary looper^[6], helped (among many others) track down the imperial staff and take it from Violeteye. He willingly sacrificed his own life to let Zorian escape the time loop^[7].

Outside the time loop, he helped with evacuation from Cyoria prior to the invasion^[8]; also, Zorian wiped a month from Daimen's memory (along with some others' memories) to convince Zach that nobody knows about the time loop^[9][10].
