Alanic Zosk

An old, muscular, short bald priest, expert duelist, expert at fire usage, and soul mage. Fights undead.^[1] Eager to help, eager to educate people about religion. Normally targeted by soul conspiracy and killed in his sleep. When Zorian saved Lukav Teklo, a small group of riflemen and two mages were sent to murder Alanic.^[1] Presumably has some sort of mental defense, as Zorian is sometimes unable to perceive Alanic's emotions^[2]. Has a temple near Knyazov Dveri. Has healing potions^[3], friends with Lukav Teklo who brews him truth potions^[4], has artifact that can heal burn wounds^[2], can selectively burn objects^[2]. Seems able to bypass teleportation wards Zorian could make at one point^[2] (but so was Xvim).

Alanic taught Zorian to sense his own soul and some combat magic, mostly fire-based spells^[3]. Later, he also started teaching Zach to sense his own soul.^[5]

Alanic allowed Zorian to interrogate Sudomir in one restart^[6] and in many later ones.

When Zach asked Alanic if he should be looking for the simulacrum spell among necromancers and liches, Alanic expressed interest in information on "locations of necromancer groups and lich sanctums". They did eventually find the instructions for the spell, and Alanic confirmed they're genuine.^[7] The information compiled by Alanic ultimately was used outside of the time loop to help convince Alanic that Zach and Zorian are telling the truth about the time travel^[8] and by the Triumvirate Church which gave it to the royal investigators to distract them from Zorian's and Zach's involvement^[9]. Presumably Alanic was behind that.

In one of the meetings of the people aware of the time loop, Silverlake said about Alanic: "A necromancer and a thief became a fervent priest and a patriot"^[10]. Alanic walked out of the meeting, but never disputed that. Outside the time loop, Alanic also said "I was a very angry person when I was young"^[11].
