Remembrance Day is a significant holiday, offering people a respite from the demanding burdens of their jobs and an opportunity to spend time with their close ones.[1]
Establishment
Remembrance Day was established as an official memorial day following the calamity that erased years of memories from humanity. It was created to honor "the forgotten"—those whose lives had been swallowed by oblivion after mankind's memories were cleansed to destroy the mental hex that had infected the world.[2]
The first Remembrance Day was observed on the first anniversary of the calamity and was celebrated in a solemn atmosphere. It served as a time for those who had lost something during the forgotten years to find a bitter kind of closure, while also reminding those who had gained something precious to appreciate what they had. The memorial reflected the profound impact of the collective amnesia that had left countless people struggling with confusion, uncertainty, and the loss of years of their lives.[2]
Trivia
- In Chapter 3009, although the holiday had a solemn nature that left many people with wistful expressions, the overall mood was festive and excited. Much of that anticipation centered on the upcoming speech by Changing Star, whose public appearances remained highly anticipated because most subjects of the Longing Domain rarely got to see their goddess. The speech was set to be viewed throughout both the waking world and the Dream Realm, whether on public screens, in private homes, or through Dreamscape, a new version of Dreamscape for the Dream Realm.
- For Sunny, Remembrance Day was also a deeply personal occasion. On that day, he met with Quentin, Kim, and Luster, described as the last living soldiers of the First Irregular Company. Before the group could raise a toast, Sunny insisted they wait for one more person. A few minutes later, Jet arrived. Once everyone had gathered, the five of them settled around the table, raised their glasses, and honored the memory of the First Irregular Company as Sunny delivered the toast.[1]
- It also on this day that the seventh incarnation of Sunny was scouting the Burned Forest for the traces of the thieving bird, when he discovered the seed of nightmare in LO49, a nightmare seed of him.[3]
